California Greetings
Hello,
I am a new member to the Rolex family. I just received my first Rolex this weekend as a birthday present from my wife. It is a brand new Submariner 116613LN, black, silver and gold. I have been collecting watches for over 30 years, never anything very expensive, my criteria was always appearance and uniqueness. At this point I have over 150 watches, mainly lower end, Casio, Fossil, a couple Movado's, a rare Tiffany and Co. and a couple of Invicta's, one that is quite similar to the base model Submariner. Lots of very unique and odd watches though... Ever since my first job and the owner showed me his gold date adjust Rolex I have wanted one... but since life has always been a financial struggle, and with 3 kids it has never been high on my list of priorities. But thankfully things are going very well and this year we decided it was time, actually it was this or a new Ducati, and my wife deemed the watch much safer and to be honest I think the watch is a better investment all around. I love my new watch, and hopefully this will lead to many more. I really was torn between the GMTII, but the color combination of my Sub was hard to beat, as all they had for the GMTII was the full gold model, and it was a bit over the top for me. I also toyed with a used model, but since I was a newbie I didn't want to chance it, and the features of the latest model really sold it for me. My only issue is that now my wife wants one, she picked out a ladies Date Adjust, silver with diamonds and a pink mother of pearl dial. (very close to 116244 on the Rolex site) Thanks for listening, and I look forward to all this forum has to offer. Scott |

Welcome Scott,
And great choice on the watch! You currently have 150 watches or have been through 150 watches? That's a lot! Awesome! |

A California TRF welcome Scott, from San Diego. Great choice, the 116613!! I have the 116713 and imagine I will add the 116613LN one of these days. Wear it in good health!

Welcome Scott! Great choice by your wife! I guess that is one way to increase your watch collection, start talking about motorcycles!

Welcome aboard sir.
Call it the XO in me, but being a Rolex guy means knowing the terminology. As such, minor point of correction (sorry) --- it's "datejust", not "date adjust" Please take this in spirit given - trying to help :) |

Congrats on your first Rolex! Indeed, it is a much safer choice than a Ducati...and something you can enjoy in a suit too! :D
