F Series 16613 Blue

Is there any difference, visual or otherwise, between an F Series 16613 Blue and newer series (D,Z,M,V) other than the newer models having an engraved rehaut? I was thinking about: color of blue, solid end links, solid pcl's, clasp gold, bleu hairspring etc.

The F wouldn't have anything engraved (e.g. serial number) on the rehaut correct?

On the older models, sorry I don't when/where, the gold PCL's do not run all the way through the clasp

I always thought it was either stainless or a gold strip fused to the ss. Is there yet a third variant? Or more likely, "through the clasp," means that the gold does not stop at the clasp (which used to be only SS) and has a fused gold strip on it.

You may see a slight difference in color, but thats about it, other than the rehault you already mentioned. The F will have gold through the clasp and no lug holes, whereas most of the Y's (series older) have holes for the most part. The only other difference is age and possible wear time, so keep that in mind.

I think you and John are saying the same thing in different ways! You quote of (Below) is spot on.

The later blue is brighter, much less of a purple tinge.

It's tough to tell the actual color differences from a picture unfortunately. Even identical models look different in pics on the internet due to lighting, white balance differences etc.

I got my Z appraised yesterday at an AD. He mentioned how the newer models such as the 116613 have a lighter blue that isn't as popular with buyers as my 16613.
My Z does not have the rehaut engraving FWIW. That started after mine was made. I do have the gold through the clasp and no end holes for the band.

As mentioned, except for the engraved rehaut on later models, those serial prefixes are pretty much identical.

Rolex does not change anything based on a serial number.. it's just a number..

You have to go back to the 80's/90's to find noticeable differences, such as the different clasp, lug holes, and the 3035 movement instead of the 3135. But on a well maintained watch, a casual observer won't see any differences..
