To Flip or Not To Flip??? That is the question!!!

I have never considered myself a serial WIS flipper as I typically wait months or at least a year before I trade a piece or several pieces for a new watch. Today, I am in a little bit of a confusion as I might become a serial flipper like our friend Eric.

I am very interested in a deal that just came up. I can trade my RO 15300 (which I've owned for a little bit less than a month) plus another watch and upgrade to a BNIB ROO Diver. Would you do it???

Comments are really needed!!!

Nah. The diver is nice, but the 15300 is a classic.

I do like more sporty watches, so I would vote for the diver (assuming the trade itself is reasonable money wise). I also got a diver a few months ago, and couldn't be happier with it. To me, the diver has the clean look of the ROs and the more modern feel of the ROOs. Just my two cents.

Don't be crazy, 15300 is more than classic...it's iconic! I'm all for the diver, but trade in some other pieces or save up for it.

I like classic watches. Keep the 15300, man. It's a great piece no doubt.

I have the 15300 and am looking to add the diver but I would never get rid of the 15300. I love the classic design. The diver is a great watch but I have watches tha cover similar space. The 15300 is unique in my collection, at least until I ger the Patek 5711 I am saving for...

Divers are becoming a dime a dozen while 15300 are rarer. Now if you were upgrading to a Jumbo! Maybe sell your 5402 to fund a Diver after it's all sorted out?

15300 goes with everything and is classier, yet sporty. Can pull of both

The Diver is not. U might get tired of a bigger watch the 15300 u will not IMO

Tough call...I am more of an ROO and sports watch kind of guy for the most part so for me the Diver or another ROO would be my choice. The 15300 is a classic though and if you can add another down the road then wait.

Tough call

The 15300 is classic and perfect for anything as you know.
I am more of a sportier watch guy so I would go for the Diver.
I keep my Jumbo as my dress watch but tend to lean towards ROO ad Rolex Professional models.
Is it possible to flip "the other watch" plus cash and keep the 15300?

As stated, very tough call.

First of all, they both share the same movement - cal 3120 - so no help there.

Needless to say, the 15300 is more understated and much more adaptable to most any situation. It is a 'good enough' sport watch with 50 meters water resistance, it would be more if it didn't have that beautiful see-through crystal back. While the lines are classic RO/Genta and the finish is superlative, it is a bit on the boring side IMO in the stainless steel version. AP's red gold is very nice and really makes the RO design stand out IMO (but that metal is on the soft side).

The Diver is a beautiful piece, perhaps my favorite ROO piece because of its (relative) simplicity. On the minus side, for me at least, is that I find the tapisserie to be a bit too big, I would prefer smaller sized one and the crown at 10 o'clock throws of the balance of the watch a bit. But I'm nit-picking here. It is a very nice piece, not a particular good sport watch I would argue at $18,900 on a rubber strap and rather susceptible to ding and scratches - I rather wear a DSSD if I was going to diving or climbing etc.

I don't know, somehow I really like the design and idea of the ROO Diver

But then in reality it doesn't really fit me?!

Perhaps the new RO's will your perfect choice in the middle?

Then again, you cannot go wrong with an AP Rubberclad! :-) (yes, trying to make your choices harder!)

As long as I love the Diver, I wouldn't flip the iconic 15300 for it.
Anyhow, follow your heart, if you feel that you love a more bold yet sporty design and find the price to be right, go for it. No one knows which one you enjoy the most.

I had a 15300 and a Diver a couple of months ago. I kept the 15300 and traded the Diver for a Sub plus cash.

The 15300 is by far my favorite watch and a keeper for me.

Great advice guys! Thanks so much. Sometimes I need a good reality check from my TRF buddies.

I will get a Diver some time soon but will keep the 15300.

Glad you are able to make your choice. I think in your shoes I would also choose to keep the 15300.

Cheers,
James

Together we stand! Sometimes we will look on some other grail , neglecting on what we had. That's what TRF for, poisoning and... 'curing'.

I like the diver, I would go for it.

I kind of miss mine and might have to get a new one soon. By the way no more flipping for me.

Personally, the diver fits my own style better, but reading your incoming and 15300 review threads and how much you like it ... I'd say you should probably keep it and get the diver later.

Two great watches, truly can't go wrong with either. Personally, I'm a sports watch kind of guy, so the diver would be an easy choice.

I wouldn't flip it, unless you really needed the cash to make it happen.
