Hi Alfred,

I've recently built a new rig and I purchased an intel CPU i5 2500k overclocked to 4.8 and GPU MSi GeForce 560ti GTX and also a new Corsair Force 3 SSD.

Im very impressed with this system and I game a lot with it.

This will be my last upgrade for a while so I was wondering in the future should I go for an intel i7 or just get another 560ti to SLI as my final upgrade to this machine.

Probably in a year or so.

Thanks Ryan

Ryan, the second GPU would probably serve you better for gaming purposes. You may want to ask that one at a gaming oriented forum though. There are huge communities built around game performance optimization on a budget.

Ryan,

There are many aspects of Gaming. However, the most important would always be frame rate, frame rate and.... frame rate. The i7 is nice but for bang for the buck improvement on gaming, then I would agree with transio. This is also dependent on the game you would run.

Have you installed the software that came with the printer? Go to HP start smart and check what is the status of the printer. do you want to scan as PDF or jpg or even tiff? If the printer is setup correctly, get the IP address of the printer, copy and paste it on a web browser go to status or diagnostics and take a screenshot of it and post it here.

Another option is for you to uninstall the softare (HP full feature) restart and reinstall it.

One question that I have is, what software are you using to scan? Is it the scan feature in windows, HP start smart? Paper port?

give us more details,,, any error messages?

OK, I need help but I'm mostly computer illiterate. I have lost the ability to upload pictures from Photobucket. Under each picture there were 4 boxes
email and im
direct links
html code
img code
I used the last one to upload pix but it has disappeared as well as two of the others and the only 1 I have left is email and im.
I can't get the 4 boxes back. Any help will be much appreciated.

What browser are you using? Do you notice something different from the layout of the screen IE the fonts are bigger etc... if you are using IE8 and above click on the compatibility mode icon. Have you tried using other browsers such as Firefox, Opera, and google chrome to see if you have the same problem with the view>?

Tom,

First, I love Ireland. Its on my list of places to see..

Now back to the topic at hand... which is a good question by the way...

Registry Cleaners are TEMPORARY FIXES... They are a hit and miss. Sometimes they solve the problem, sometimes they dont. It actually depends on the reason why the PC is slowing down.

Free softwares that are great...:

Malwarebytes is one of them definitely..
AVG Free anti Virus is also a good one.
COMODO free anti virus... when you are an advanced user and can tolerate their defense warning system.

These are for home use only. we use different tools in the Enterprise level.

The General rule of thumb is have a backup of everything. Acronis online backup is only $50 a year and has a 250GB storage capacity. This is similar to Carbonite which is more expensive.

Every 18 months, Backup everything and do a clean install to keep your computer running like new. There is not escape from OS ROT (Operating System Rot).

Thank you for your question and I hope I was able to help clarify some things

All the best...

Alfred

I also use a registry cleaner named CCLEANER and it has served me well over the past few years. It is a free utility. Remember folks, it is always good to let the software do a registry backp prior to deleting the unneeded entries.

"if you have any computer questions or issues. may they be Desktop Laptop or Servers, Windows to Macs (sorry not certified with Linux) then i will gladly help you guys out....

so just post away..."

My questions are... "will a USB 2.0 port on a PC read text files written on a Mac, transferring those docs from a USB 3.0 port; this is assuming that both versions of MS Word are compatible on each operating system." And, what do you think of partitioning a laptop to accomodate Windows7 and compatible programs? The only reason would be the need for learning iOS, but having access to PC programs when necessary.

Thanks for the tips

the speed of the two interfaces is immaterial with the compatibility of the file. There are compatibility packs that you might need to install but other than that I see no problem.

back in the days, when you want to learn a new OS partitioning is the way to go so you can "multi Boot" different OS in the same machine. you only need a compatible boot manages to handle the boot selection query. IE having linux, windows and MAC OS in one machine. but now, you dont need to do that. Install Virtual Box which is a free Virtual OS handler and install as many different OS as you want.
