My wife's Lincoln is assembled in Mexico of 20% USA-made parts. The vehicle brand name means little these days in regards to "American Made".

This was 30 years ago!!!! PS, even if the car is made here, the money still goes back to Japan.

The assembly and parts manufacturing represent jobs, so some of that is spread around as well. Al this global economy stuff is confusing.

I grew up in metro Detroit and belonged to one of the most exclusive country clubs who's members read like a who's who of the Big 3. The only American car we had ever owned were Suburbans so my dad bought a Cadillac because he didn't want to stand out by driving foreign cars. He soon realized how unnecessary that was because all of them drove foreign cars as well.

I often think a little less of people that don't dress well and/or have nicer things that are commensurate with their station in life. A buddy of mine is a CEO...he wore ragged, ill-fitting suits and shoes, had a plastic watch and drove an old beater. He makes tons of money and was quite successful...he just gave a bad vibe because he didn't 'dress the part'. He finally got the message, and now, personally and professionally he is doing even better. Dressing down is as bad as over doing it.
