It's all good! Looks like an amazing time around Tokyo! When I was there about 5 years ago I was into vintage video games like Neo Geo and Toys Astro boy and not into timepieces like the way I am now so I am afraid to visit again! I will just continue to enjoy pictures from you and Steve (diamondjack) Thank you for sharing with us Tom!

Fantastic pics. Looks like you guys had a great time and yeah Rolex heaven indeed. So many to look at I could spend hours in one shop alone staring at them. Sapporro Beer Hall...wow I miss that place.

Otto has made many prior TRF appearances. He has also given "watch tours" to Rolex aficionados / web "journalists" in the past.

The man knows Tokyo / Rolex - and Daytonas in particular!

Met up with him in Shinjuku and then on a guided tour of the Rolex paradise that Tokyo is with no better man than Otto to show us around.

Hit I want to say 4 Rolex shops. 3 grey dealers with amazing selections ( and prices ) and the Rolex boutique in the Ginza. Sold my GMT II C that I wanted to sell for a decent price and tried on a bunch of watches. Almost pulled the trigger on a few that really caught my eye. A full package F serial faded bezel LV Sub. About $5,000 US. What a steal. A closer look revealed a hole like almost a rust hole right near the pearl on the bezel. The salesperson admitted as much that that is why the low price. I passed. My girl loved the diamond dial Datejust II.

At the boutique where the prices were insane we all tried on the Platinum Day Date II with the blue Roman concentric dial. Oh my! Like weight lifting training with a watch on. Man that felt so great on your wrist and just stunning.

Then off to the Saporro Beer Hall in the Ginza for what else... some Saporro Beer!

I did not want to say goodbye to Otto. Definitely made myself a new great friend. Thanks Otto for your hospitality. I hope to repay it some day!

Yes I do have pics. Having one heck of a time loading them on to here. Please be patient with me.
Tom,

The feeling is mutual. You and Kayo-san are wonderful people and I had a great time showing you around. Maybe next time you visit, we can stop by a watch store for you to pick up a DDII, maybe even the platinum one, and for Kayo-san to pick up a DJ or DJ II; and then we can spend the bulk of the time celebrating in the Lion Beer Hall! Or... maybe if we start at the beer hall and then go watch shopping, we can all buy two or three watches each!

Seriously, it was great fun. I wish I could do this type of outing with all TRF members who visit Tokyo, but with my travel and work, it's not always possible; but I'm especially happy we got to spend an afternoon together. Here are the very few photos I took with my iPhone at the Lion Beer Hall and at Lexia, the Rolex boutique in the Ginza.

I hope Kayo-san's conference went well.

Otto

Thank you for sharing those great pictures Otto and Tom! Makes me regret I don't live in Japan to share great moments (and eccentric poses...) with you gentlemen!

Shot in the dark here, Tom, but were you and Otto in Ginza last Saturday? I seem to recall two gentleman of the Caucasian persuasion going into this smaller watch shop that had a few Pateks and APs in the window (near the main department stores).

Great pics!

I must say, from my biased perspective, Otto's YG DDII looks much better on him than the Platty Emperor!
