So, when you go to the gym...

I never gave this too much of a thought w/ my panerai I liked it being "RUGGED"... but I have always wondered: when you guys go to the gym before or after work and you have the watch on you, what do you do w/ it? Espcially those more valuable watches.

Are there any little pockets or cases that are sold where you can put the watch inside for protection? Thanks :)

Happy Friday!

I don't go to the gym but my wife does regularly and wears a Cartier, Rolex or Breitling. Why not?

With my Rolex I'd leave it at home *if* I remembered, or more likely I'd just leave it on, paying a bit more attention when picking up the iron. With my Seiko Monster, it never leaves my wrist and I don't have to worry about it.

"In the day" as in when I went indoors to exercise on equipment - I always put a wrist sweatband over my wristwatch. Needed it to wipe my brow anyway since I didn't use the gym towels except to wipe down the equipment after use.

I often drive past gyms while wearing my Day-Date. No damage yet.

I lock mine in a wall locker. My Rolex is the only watch I have now and I hate to be parted from it.

Don't go to a gym. I do play golf 3-5x a week. My watches stay in my locker at my club. If at a club I'm not a member it stays in my car. Every gym I've ever been in has clocks on every wall. No need for a watch. Plus with all the weight one wrong bump and you need a new crystal.

I never wear a watch to the gym. Ya see, the blood circulates at x110 megacycles for every 2.5 kilogram increase in weight multiplied by body mass +/- a -.002 differential in body heat elevation and respiratory depletion. These factors all contribute to what experts call muscle mass growth. Doctors recommend not wearing your Rolex to avoid bracelet stretch. And that's why.

My gym is in a super secure location and leave it in my backpack unattended.

However, if I had to go to a regular gym I would either leave it in my car or wear it. I would never leave it in a gym locker. Every year we take at least 5 burglary reports of stolen watches (mostly Rolex) from a large gym.

Love the posts from the peanut gallery.

Anyway, if helpful to the OP, check out Oakly watch soft vaults. They're pretty cheap and work pretty well. For my DSSD, I use the large size. I would assume the Panerai would use the same size.

Well gave up the gym about 2 years ago here but when I did go I would wear it, leave it in my car or even in the locker at the gym... I know not the nest place but it was insured so I was never worried

No special place for me or case just wherever I set it down

If I go to the gym straight after work, I put it into a velvet watch pouch, and put that in my gym bag that stays with me in the group fitness room. If I go home first, I leave it at home and swap it with my cheap digital watch.

If I come right from work, I leave it in my car and hope for the best. I guess I trust that more than a gym locker somehow. Insurance reasons maybe? Usually i come from home and just have a cheap ironman on though.

While on subject, I just don't understand why some where their nice pieces while working out. With all the sweating and banging around, why would you have on a $5k + watch?

I've never had an issue wearing a Rolex to the gym.. I have never damaged a watch at the gym, so I can't imagine what some of you guys do that would put your watch at a huge risk...

Besides, it's just a watch that can easily be repaired if anything does happen to it.. A Rolex isn't any more fragile than any other watch...

I also believe that it's safer on your wrist than in your car of locker..
