Ladies SS Datejust
Going to be buying my wife a SS datejust and went in to purchase it at my local AD and didn't realize how much they were !! Even with an excellent discount it is still over $1000 more than i paid for my SS Sub Seriously ? I might be out of the loop, but I don't know why they're so expensive ? or is it just demand, but then wouldn't my sub have been more ? I don't know ! That's my rant for the day !

Not sure what a new ladies SS Datejust is going for, but a new SS Sub is about $8k from an AD.

When did you buy your Sub, and which model SS Datejust were you looking at? Fluted bezel? Diamonds?

That would explain it then - the fluted bezel is made of white gold, and the diamond dial comes at a hefty premium too. Over here, a base model Lady's Datejust (with the steel domed bezel) starts at just over £4000. Factor in the fluted bezel, you add on about £700. For the diamond dial, an additional £1000. So, after all that, you've got a watch heading towards £6000, whilst the Sub C retails at £5320 these days. Those extras on a Lady Datejust look pretty, but don't come cheap unfortunately!

IMHO I'd look some more. I'm buying my fiancé one and if you get in the $10k market there are some exceptional peices to be had. My personal favorite is the RG Pearlmaster with chocolate dial. We are going with either that or Ladies DJ fluted bezel jubilee band. I would have her really look at the jubilee. The oyster isnt as lady like to me plus it shows many more scratches than the jubilee band. I really like the new TT ladies DJ with the diamond bezel but it's around $17k. My mom is thinking about picking one up.
Look at Luxurybazzar.com for prices and all the models. You can get a much better deal on the diamond models. They have about 100 ladies DJ models so you can get a great overall view of models and prices. |
