Clearing EXIF data on wrist shots

I'm sure this has been posted before, but it bears repeating. It is a good practice to clear the EXIF data, especially the GPS data from any pictures you are uploading to the Internet, especially those of expensive watches! All a person has to to is drag and drop a picture in a forum to his or her desktop, open it up in almost any image app and bingo, wherever you took that cell phone shot is now for all to see. Be safe out there!

put the file on your windows desktop - right click properties and clear the data or just set the option on your phone to not capture gps data

Where is EXIF switch on mine?

Is there a court document somewhere with testimony that reads:

" The victim was targeted using time and GPS information gleaned from the EXIF data obtained from an internet photo " ?

Is the advice given in this thread based on factual and verifiable documentation or are we in the area of internet hearsay here?

I doubt criminals will come clean about how they commented a crime.

I notice you aren't using your real name or giving your home address in your posts.

Posting a picture and leaving the EXIF data (which includes GPS coordinates of where you took the picture) in the file could be doing the same thing assuming you post to a site that doesn't scrub that info.

But to be safe - why leave that data in a file header you post to the internet?

Because with your home address I can tell a lot more about you than you'd think . . . . like within a half hour pretty much have everything from marital status, to credit history, to names of your kids. Lot's of that for free. And for less than $50 . . . get pretty much everything there is on public record.

That's not internet heresay - it's fact.

I asked if a case history exists, not an imaginary possibilty.

I`ll take your answer as a no.

Sorry - not a lawyer so can't tell you about case history and wouldn't waste the time.

But if you're not worried about imaginary things, post your name and address. Or post a picture with EXIF data and we can all come visit you! Although you'd have to be near the border, top of Canada is too cold.
