As pointed out, if you truly are a Bond fan and now wants your watch choice to be linked or driven by a movie character, then Rolex is the only natural selection. Omega, Seiko and others just bought their way in, it is as simple as that. Product placement, nothing else.

If you want a classic choice, the current no date is the way to go.

I own 2 Omega Planet Oceans, one of them being the new 9300. Great watches; I am great Omega fan just like yourself.

At first I was a bit skeptical about Rolex, as I loved the Omega Co-Axial movement to say the least. I thought of Rolex as more of a brand-name hype than product substance, and therefore you paid more $ for less product substance vs Omega. For example, for less than a Deepsea, you could get a Planet Ocean 9300 with the engineering marvel Co-Axial Chronograph Movement (which can also be used as a GMT since the chronograph has both the hour and minutes hands on the same subdial), a 45.5mm watch with Ceramic Bezel, Silicon Hair Spring and choice of interchangeable factory rubber strap (sold separately). And heck, it is even higher than the Deepsea at 19mm. Not to mention the build quality and detailing in this watch is astonishing too. So, this in my mind, was "more watch for less $" bang for your buck vs Rolex Deepsea. And Omega in general too.

Until I bit the bullet and bought a SubC and, following that I have recently purchased the 9300's arch-nemesis in question, the Deepsea.

And OMG... boy was I wrong in thinking that about the Rolex.

The quality of these watches, not to mention the rich heritage, legendary-ness, timelessness and of course versatility, really has me converted.

Only after I had these on my wrist, I had never realised what these pieces really are and what they do, how they look, and what they really meant. They are, really second to none. They scream quality; you can feel that just by having them in your hand. The precision, build quality and detailing is mind-boggling. They have cut-throat engineering innovation esp. in the DSSD.

Rolex has perfected the Submariner for almost 60 years now, and all of this perfection shows in the SubC. I guess it is not unlike the classic Porsche 911- the body and shape has not changed since the very first model that was produced many decades ago; and since then Porsche has improved, fine-tuned and and has turned something that was already great, into something even better with each new model.

The latest Porsche 911 today is a precision engineering marvel, but yet the classic lines, the character, heritage and legendary cult status of this classic car has not changed since day 1.

The air-cooled 911's of the 1980's are
still running strong today and are highly sought after collectibles much like the Submariner 6208, 5512 or 5513.

And that, is what Rolexes are; worth every penny if you ask me.

Words cannot explain how much I love my SubC an DSSD and how happy I am with them. They are truly incredible pieces and I must say: Once skeptical, now convinced.

I would never have imagined this, coming from a die-hard Omega fan!

My advice would be, to get the Submariner Ceramic, with or without date. You will not regret it.

I'm a big fan of omega and have owned many in the past but they have overdone the bond theme with gimmick's like 007 logo on the hands and such like, the Bond watch's are based around the use for commercial aspect's as I think Daniel Craig wore at least three models in one film. The money you lose swapping between models trying to keep up with the latest new limited edition your better off bighting the bullet and go for the ND sub. The 14060m non ceramic is a fantastic classic and you can pick up a bargain if you hunt around, look on the for sale section on this forum.

114060 is the wise choice.

"Omeegah" is losing credibility with me due to their "Cheesy" branding of their watches. James Bond or not, it cheapens their brand when they put "007" on the dial or whatnot.

Rolex 4 LIFE!!!
