When is it time to lower the price?

When a for sale ad has run 7 months with 59 bumps and almost 10,000 views would you lower the price or just stubbornly think that it must be a clueless buyer out there?

Fully agree ... there are a few "optimistic" sellers out there.

Although it looks like sometimes perseverence pays ( based on the validity of posts anyway). There is one here - Listed for 1 full year , over 100 bumps , over 13k views.. and its shown as sold recently.

Not when you're in the business selling.

Fully agree! and at some point it would be rather intimidating for the serious buyers

I think you are referring to the infamous Nos Sub LV G serial thread

This one is the best, 81 bumps and 11,750 views, I've thought for months about making an offer on this watch......

Man, I have thought that dozens of times. Some people must not care if they sell their stuff or not. I see ads all the time where the asking price is so far off from norm it makes one wonder why they bothered with an ad in the first place and if you ask them if they did any research before listing their goods they get mad.

Just makes me laugh and move on to a realistic seller.

it just all depends on the "need" to sell the watch or not

There's one seller on here & a few other forums - I think one watch went from Oct - Mar without a price drop

Nearly every watch is well overpriced

must not need the money

That asking price is completely absurd especially when you consider that it seems to be based entirely on the serial number which is 100% hype and nothing to do with condition.

I agree. I always reckon that if I put a watch in the FS section and it hasn't gone in two weeks then I'm out of line with the price. I've noticed watches bumped for a year here at the same price. Surely, that's Gods way of telling you to lower the price. Further to that if someone just joins this excellent forum in order to hawk watches and contribute nothing else then it seems a little mean spirited to me.

I think they have every right to wait for some sucker to come along. What I find annoying isn't the bumps, rather it is the seller reposting the same item over an over in order to mislead people in terms of how long it has been for sale and bumped. There should be some rule against reposting the same item for sale if it has been less than a year since the last bump on the original/previous for sale thread of the same item. They should only be permitted to bump the the original thread rather than reposting the same item over and over again on new threads.

Content. The forum receives viewers for it's content.
The offer to sell is bona-fide, and it is content.

I've gotten unsolicited requests for advice from potential buyers. No idea how I was chosen,
but by giving examples like pawn guy, and established "private" individuals, the grey guys,
the buyer can make up their own mind.

If I wanted that particular TOG, and went to, say, that mall Rolex place that sold
used Rolex watches in the non-Rolex area, it would be priced at $5500.

I know a guy who bought a PP Y-serial TOG in excellent shape for under three grand,
with a Rolex service warranty. So obviously, the pawn price reflects bricks'n'mortar.

And for another grand or so over private party, you get the watch.

I wouldn't pay pawnshop retail, but there are some people who do.

I do laugh, though, when David or Oscar sells a white gold sub for more than the pawnguy,
and to a casual observer, both look identical.

That TOG isn't worth a penny over $3,500 in my opinion. Either nobody has made and offer or he's not budging off of $4,000.....I paid $3,750 for TT Gold dial TOG last year...

Hey AZGuy, thanks for the lead on the TOG. I've been looking for one, I guess those 11,750 views weren't enough for someone to see this for the great deal it is. I'm going to contact the seller and ask him if he'd take $4,853.67. hehehe
