Wow astonishing huge price increase every year for Rolex. Too bad our salary wage per hour doesn't increase as fast as Rolex's prices so it could cope or compensate for the yearly price increase.
Average salary wage increase per US worker is only by the CENTS per hour (i.e 35 cents increase per hour or less) and that is if your lucky enough to get an increase for the year. But Rolex increases their prices at a steady high rate annually and never fails to do so. It's time to change jobs, I guess. LOL |

Rolex could careless about the US market and what Americans want to pay for a watch.. Their sights are on China and the Chinese will may full price for the name Rolex on their wrist. It's that simple. They could increase prices 50% and it would just make the desire for them that much higher.

perhaps....just not so sure the DAYTONA is that star anymore The Daytona was once a 'sought after' piece. NOW its available at pretty much every AD and lots of 2nd hand. As far as 2nd hand gos? i see just as much a price drop in daytona resale as the submariner, deepsea, gmt etc. BOTTOMLINE, the DSSD is technically superior and that is reflected in the latest price increase. Im pretty sure Rolex bumped the price on the DSSD moreso than the others because of the INCREASE in DSSD sales the past year.....no offence to anyone but 40mm for men is going the way of the dinosaur. I fully expect a 42mm daytona within 2 years |

Rolex IMHO have taken prices now to levels that the 2nd hand dealers are not heavy buyers at even 25-35% off today's msrp. It is my estimation that resellers were over 50%-70% of the buyers from AD's. They in essence have taken these guys out of the picture as there is not enough buyers out there at these levels for them to tie up there money for a very small % return. Rolex AD's will soon if not already be the place that has the inventory for the few that want to pay these prices.

It could be that they lose more and more customers with each price increase but it's a slow process... it may still be quite a while before it has any impact. It's not so much the increasing cost but getting less value for your money. It's not like a Sub-C just got $550 better. Others like Omega are improving their movements (such as the 8500) so their price increases seem more reasonable or at least palatable.

Well, glad I got my couple a Rolexes when I did. My 116710 had a 7000 msrp in what, Oct 2009? Now up 1400.00 bucks. Even though there are a few pieces I desire, I have plenty of other things to drop 8500.00 on.Cars are getting old, house is getting old, I'm getting old!
I wish Rolex all the best in their emerging markets. I think here in the U.S., many will be forced to acquire less expensive brands. It is a shame that Rolex is pricing many of their past supporters out of the Rolex market. :-(

What's the new price of a WG Sub-C ?
I got mine for 12% off from a AD about 9 months ago...list I think was 34,000 got it for like 29800 or 29900 + tax ...so it still cost me like 31,700 (crazy, and not like anyone is going to cough up 30k for mine...the bracelet scratches pretty easily) |

Discontinued watches have traditionally stayed at their last msrp.

Tagged price was 34K and change here in Canada recently. Hasn't changed for quite some time. Our dollar's par with the U.S. lately.
I'd LOVE to have one! My grail. Not likely to happen, unfortunately. |

I feel like it really wasn't to long ago that you could get a gold Daytona for low 20's tops... This is just insane, and truthfully kind of a turn off.

I would be a lot more concerned if we were seeing deflation.
As far I am concerned, I hope we never reach a point when they have to stop raising prices, because when that day comes we will all be in trouble.

Thank you guys. As I learned that the price will increase on monday, I decided to buy my Explorer. So this saturday I tried to find a retailer that had one. After 3 attempts I found one. In the retailer I found that they had already apply the new price! After a small talk they agreed with me that the increase should be applied on monday.
Well, I am an happy man with the watch I dream of. |
