New Exp II = itchy wrist, other SS watches = no itch

Hey guys,

I have been wearing my new EXP II a lot since my son was born (I bought the watch to wear to his birth and to events in his life -- and then give to him when he is an adult).

The EXP II seems to be giving me a itchy wrist with small welts. However, I wear other stainless steel watches including my Y-serial GMT II and, my Prometheus, and my Omegas with no issue.

Is there something different about the steel in used in the EXP II that may cause me to have an allergic reaction? I did a search and found that many have nickel allergy that causes this issue. But if that is the case -- why are my other SS watches not causing a problem.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It should be the same 904L steel. Maybe it's a fitment issue?

Nothing in the SS itself, but maybe in between. You never know what the jeweler could have used to clean the bracelet. Maybe take a mild soap and soft toothbrush to wash it, rinse it and then dry it off?

Silly question - did you remove the clear plastic stick off the case back?

Not a silly question -- I did not. I thought it would be nice to keep in on for my son.

But -- I have been thinking about removing it to engrave his initials and b-date.

Does the plastic film cause problems? I get the rash also on the clasp side, and around the bracelet.

Try removing plastic and washing bracelet in water with mild soap as mentioned above.

x2

I had the same problem. I removed the plastic on the clasp and it went away. as a matter of fact the bracelet without the sticker is the nicest, and smoothest of any watch I have had.
