Just a question what kind of box do you get on a brand new Rolex hulk what size? Small medium or what cause the ad is saying it comes with just the small box

Well my 2011 116250 came in a smaller box than my 2004 16610, but I was always more interested in what's inside the box!

X2.At the end of the day its just a packaging box and not the best of those. Its a bit pot luck what box you get with most of the SS models, watches are shipped separate to the boxes,AD puts watch in whatever box they have.

In most cases...
SS - small box
TT - medium
18k/Pt - large

That kind of sucks in my opinion. Yes its just a box, and yes a rolex is just a watch. and sure a dollar is just a dollar but when you spend 8000 plus of them, there should be some logic and order to it. It always bothered me that the crown on my watch showed the rolex crown backwards and horizontal. shouldn't they all be lined up and symmetrical?

I think the current boxes really add to the enjoyment of taking my watch out of the closet.

I agree that the box is not that important in the grand scheme of things. I even had to ask my wife where mine was so I could have a look at my warranty card.

Having said that, I would like to think that there was some kind if standardization of what watch goes with what box especially when purchasing brand new from an AD. Surely there's more to it than receiving some random Rolex container they happen to have? Or is all this just part of an illusion that makes us think the purchasing experience is more special than it really is???

There is logic, it just doesn't seem to be followed in the US as the boxes are shipped separately from the watches, ergo they don't always go out in the correct box.

As Eric said, all steel = small box, bi-metal (including steel and white gold models) come in a medium box, 18ct/Plat (and the Deepsea, to confuse things) come in a large box, and 18ct and diamonds come in a box so big, it rivals some countries

As for the crown, there's simply no way to make them all line up straight - even if they did line up straight initially, as the gaskets change over time through wear and a gradual reduction in elasticity, the crown would end up off centre. It's an easy assumption to make if you don't understand the engineering behind it - as long as it is screwing down correctly, and maintains its waterproofing, it doesn't matter where the crown ends up

I completely agree with you two.

For that money there needs to be logic regardless of whether it's important for the buyer or not (important in my case).

I've gotten all my Rolexes in the small boxes... even the gold models. Not that the box really matters. Rolex boxes suck anyways. Have you seen an AP or PP box?

Rolex could take packaging lessons from Apple - and they simply use cardboard and plastic!

It's just a Stainless Steel Sub..

Why would you think that it should come in any other box besides the small one..

Just... haha.

Regardless of whether it's steel, gold or platinum I just think that as a premium product which has a big price tag on it they should have a specific box that comes with the various models. Not just a random box the AD pulls out.
