INCOMING: Rolex Submariner

Got this for my graduation. Bought it over in the Diamond District in NYC. Pre-Owned from around the 90s, the lume doesn't light up however, is that normal? Thanks guys!

Subs from the 90's used Tritium for their luminescence. It has a limited lifespan which would explain why it doesn't give off much of a glow anymore.

No luminous at that time in Rolex watches. Should not glow.

Does Rolex refinish the lume during service?

Looks good, congrats... personally, I would bring it to an AD and have the lugs and the bracelet "brushed" like it should be.

They've used lume for a long, long time.

Since it's a tritium dial, the remaining lume will be quite weak...possibly nonexistent.

the original oyster bracelet for submariner doesn't have polished center link like yours
and also the lug of the case looks like it's not original, may be this watch have been service by watchmaker with poor skill

anyway congrats on your new watch

It was over polished at some point. I'd recommend taking it to the RSC and have them do a complete service. You'll then be able to enjoy it for years and maybe pass it on to your kid when they graduate.

Not off the top of my head, you can just walk around and take a look. However, I do recommend purchasing from a trusted seller here on TRF

Thanks. Yup, I wouldn't buy anything in the diamond district, personally. Not to say one shouldn't or you can't get a good deal or whatever, just I personally would not. Just to look.
