2012 paper with K7 serial#

Lesson for a Newbie - I saw a DD listed on the FS section with a K7 serial #, paper warranty, claims paper dated 2012. There is always the possibility of an AD keeping the watch in his inventory for 11 years. Are there other possibilities ?

that ain't random... Have never seen the paper-style warranty dated 2012. Maybe seller meant 2002?

Not too common but not surprised to see the precious metal DD with old serial numbers.

That's why it's been listed since 8 Feb.

A follow up question, does an AD own his Rolex inventory out right ? Or he can return watches, which he is unable to sell, to Rolex for credit after a certain time.

Yes he owns it. Once it's sent to the AD it's theirs. That's why ADs end up with a bunch of old stock that's hard to sell !!

Well, the watch is from Jared's. Maybe it sat in one of their many stores forever and didn't sell, and then got bought up in their big sell off last year when they were no longer an AD. I've seen a few K serial number stuff still in some stores. Mostly High dollar pieces with diamonds, platinum etc. etc.

I believe stores get a certain allotment of pieces per their dealer agreement and it's up to them to sell it. If they can't then most likely it will sit there or found through the grey side of the business.

Thank you for the insight. I find dating an eleven years old watch, even never sold before, with the current date by an AD is not the best of business practice. It is kind of misleading, at least the "new" watch is in need of an immediate overhaul. Most service guys suggest a service every five years due the deterioration of the lubricating oil, seating in a safe or on a wrist.
