Daytona upgrade. Should I?

I have a SS white face Daytona (D serial) that I have had and loved for several years. I bought it used from an AD who took it back on trade. It was send to Rolex for full service (and was polished) by the AD just before I bought it.

I was at a local AD yesterday and asked if he had any new ones (not really thinking he would say yes) and he thought could have a new one for me in a week or so.

I like the idea of having a brand new one but is it worth it? Should I keep what I have or flip and cough up the cash difference for the new one?

Not sure I would do it. It's basically the same model. The AD is looking at making money from the trade and money from the new sale.

I don't see that as an up-grade.

As mentioned, there are no changes from a D to a random serial aside from the engraved rehaut & newer clasp....but if it makes you happy.....

Good luck!

In your opinion...what is different about the newest Daytona which would make you want to "upgrade" ?

Functionality is exactly the same. It's not like a PC or a Mac.

If it recently were serviced it would be a waste of money.

Given the input I will probably wait as see if they do something new for 2013.

As for describing it as 'an upgrade', that was probably a poor choice of words on my part. Same watch (outside of newer clasp and engraving), but I meant upgrade more in terms of age; 'brand new vs a 7ish years old. I know thats not a huge time span especially given mine has been through its first big service. I think its more of a mind play for me. Hard to turn down a new one (offered from my AD) for a few $k difference.

Thanks for everyones input and helping me keep the cash in my pocket (at least for now)!

Don't Do It! Wait till Basel 2013 and see what the New Daytona may look like (assuming it is released)

Sorry, but it's not an upgrade. The clasp is really the only difference and not worth the $$$ to trade.

Your watch should look brand new after it comes out of RSC.

Don't do it unless you wanna change it because you want black dials.
