Can I get some help with this? Vintage re-cased watch

I bought this watch on the bay a few years ago. I know, thats my first issue... And I know know to always buy the seller, not the watch. But I really thought the watch was cool. Well, its been a while and I have not worn it for quite some time. I was thinking about selling or giving it away, but now after being into watches more and more, I feel that its a very large possibility that most if not all of this is not correct.
I know that its ben re-cased. But is the dial, hands, and especially the movement Rolex?

When I bought it, I noticed right away, it did not say Rolex on the movement, and right away contacted the seller about it, but was told that not all Rolex movements were marked with "rolex". Well at the time, I was OK with that explanation, because I really liked the watch. (not the best choice I know)
But now, thinking I might sell or give it away, I dont want to pass on a complete frankin-watch to sell or as a gift.

A good friend/watch seller that posts often here and lives in Florida suggested I ask this forum about my watch. I know I dont post here much, but Im active on a few of the other watch sites and recently bought an AP here so this is a legitimate question, not a water tester.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Well, that movement isn't like any Rolex I am familiar with, and I am pretty confident the dial and case and hands are not Rolex either.

So, it's probably a redialed something else... Elgin maybe?

I couldn't find a Rolex calibre 536 in any of my books and the hour hand is made for a demi hunter watch where the cover has a small crystal and a second set of numbers so you didn't have to open the watch to tell time smells franken to me. Rikki

Bummer... Well, would anyone know what movement it might come from? Maybe I can take the movement out and it might be worth a few bucks to someone.
I dont even know what to do with it, to be honest. :(
I dont even feel right giving it someone, but its not like it was free...

Cal. 536 is an Elgin movement and this one looks similar to their style. (although others used that same number)..

It's unlikely that anything on this watch is Rolex.

Probably a converted pocket watch..
If you can imagine that the crown is where the 12 o'clock was on a pocket watch, you can see that you would then have traditional 6'oclock seconds. Put it in a wristwatch case (hence, re-cased), you move the crown from straight up to pointing to the right (3 o'clock) and paint the dial for wristwatch use, and you move the seconds around to where it is on this example..

This is an interesting looking watch. It has a genuine vintage movement. The dial is Deco looking. The hands are fun. I think it would make a nice gift. I can imagine a woman wearing it as a fashion statement.

It's much nicer than the fake Patek I bought on eBay many years ago. I keep it as a reminder. My watchmaker told me it's made in Vietnam although the seller was based in Singapore.
