Very Cool DARPA Robot. The future is now.

What do you think?

I don't know why they had to CGI fake the footage 1:05-1:08 where the thing "runs".

Robbie the robot seemed to do it better.

Why would they fake a few seconds of "running" if the rest of it is real?

Without being able to read their minds, I'd guess that they wanted a more impressive snippet considering how many tens of millions this unit cost.

Trouble is, the thing only moves slowly. Can't run at all.

Take another look at the "running". It's really not well done at all.

A Black and Decker flux capacitor maybe, Rob?

I have looked at it and I think it looks fake because of the unnatural appearance of its movement,in other words the unbelievable look of it,not that it`s fake. It`s like the opposite of a slight of hand trick that works on the premises of what the observer expects to see, only in this case you`re not seeing what you expect to see from a quadrupedal "animal" therefore it looks contrived or,as you put it, CG`ed.

Interesting stuff.

I found this video of their big brothers building a 20 foot tower.

I think we're buggered soon. Unless we can send someone back in time and get the geeks girlfriends.
