I know it has to measure something... such as average speed? But can anyone please refer me to a site that describes such usage for the Tach on the Daytona?

Here's to start you off:

Measuring average speed of say, a car. You simply time how long it takes for the moving car to cover say, 1 mile or 1 kilometer and the you refer to the scale on the tachy where the large second hand is pointing. So... if it takes you one minute to cover 1 mile, then yo'll read 60 off the tachy meaning you covered the distance at a speed of 60mph.

The Daytona manual comes with instructions on how to use the tachymeter.

Probably the most common...and the most useless "complication" on chronos. Sorry, but to me this is a decoration.

I feel like a tach is useful, but it should not occupy the premium real estate of the outer bezel. The best tach and bezel arangement I've seen is on my Seiko. You get the very useful bidirectional elapsed time bezel with pearl, then, since a tach never moves, let it live on the chapter ring.

Indeed! I had an IWC "Doppelchronograph" once (got it for an SS Daytona 16520).

I'd love to see a lume shot of that IWC!

love the lume on this thing... it's actually a sweet blue tint, unlike any other "greenish" luminova i've ever seen.

Just use a simple Panasonic digicam w/ Leica lens. It's all about the lighting! Here's to keeping it Rolex-related. A favorite of mine I took 3 months ago. I call it "Flat Four"
