Hello. My Rolex day/date.

Happy New Year everyone.
I post sometimes in the AP section and this is my first post here on my Rolex.

I decided to wear this today which was handed down to me from my grandpa that passed away 4-5 years ago. I used to always admire his watch when I was much younger and when he got really old, I decided to get his watch a full service done at the Rolex centre,(full service came with a 1 year warranty from Rolex). A couple of days before I picked up the watch from Rolex, my grandpa passed away. I was really upset as I was close to him. My parents told me to keep the watch as they felt that it's meant to be mine and I was more than happy to. Taking this watch out to wear it always reminds me of my grandpa.
This watch will always remain in my family and will be passed on to my lovely little boy when I move on...
So here you go my friends, is there anything I should know about this model? Sorry but I'm not as knowledgeable as most of you all here on Rolex.

Great story! You will see your grandpa again and he is watching you from above and I'm sure it makes him happy you wear and enjoy his watch. I'm not very knowledgable so I can't answer your other question but I do know what I've said already and an happy for you to have been lucky enough to have known and been close to your grandpa like you were!

My story is like yours. My father bought a new DD in 1980. He wore the 24/7. that watch was on his wrist for 30 years. I remember as kid him checking the time on a chair lift on a blue sky winter day. It was on his wrist in the ocean snorkeling saying look how the salt water make the gold shine! I could on and on. He loved that watch. Last fathers day he gave it to me. Told me I wore it 30 years now it's your turn for the next 30 years. My eldest son will get when I turn 90 like my dad. Sorry about the long past didn't mean to high jack the post.

WOW! Both stories are great. This one touched one of my fibers since my dad also had YG DD which he wore everywhere. I just got my new YGDD and plan on wearing it 24/7! In fact we are away in an island (no shirt or shoes) and my DD never leaves my wrist. Hopefully I can one day pass it on to my son and he can post in TRF with the love that you guys tell your stories!!!! I feel very lucky to be part of TRF!!!
