To quote something great I saw on Faceless Book (without the expletives :-))

They're = They Are
Their = Possession
You're = You Are
Your = possession
It's = It is
Its = Possession
We're = We Are
Were = Past tense of Are
Where = Location
Loose = Not fixed in place
Lose = Cease to keep
Affect = Action
Effect = Result
Could've = Could Have
Could Of = You're an idiot

Yours helpfully :-)

Great list - well said. Some of these are annoying!

Also:

Advise is a verb
Advice is a noun
Do = action
Due = imminent/owing

When you speak, read and write 17 languages fluently like I do it's hard to sometimes not get mixed up.

My Mandarin is decent but I have to confess that my Clementine is a little bit rusty.
