Icon7 Gmt and Subc Clasp Question and Movement

GMTII--> Some of the design improvements in the new model include a new scratch resistant black ceramic bezel, anti-counterfeiting "RolexRolexRolex" engraving along the inner bezel, new Triplock crown, new maxi-dial (larger luminous hour markers and fatter hands), new solid link bracelet and clasp with half-link extension, and new #3186 Caliber Oyster Perpetual mechanism with smoother 24 hour hand movement. 116713

Rolex Submariner watch, polished round stainless steel case (40mm diameter, 13mm thickness) with shoulders to protect the screw-down Triplock winding crown, 18kt yellow gold time-lapse rotatable bezel with new scratch-proof Cerachrome blue ceramic insert, steel and 18kt yellow gold Oyster bracelet with Glidelock clasp (able to wear over a dive/wetsuit 7mm thick), matching blue dial with larger luminous hour markers (maxi dial), calendar at 3 o'clock, 31 jewel Caliber 3135 self-winding Oyster Perpetual chronometer movement, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, water-resistant to 300 meters (1000 feet). 116613

So, I assume that the GMTII has the bracelet that one can expand slightly to accommodate for mid day wrist swelling and the Submariner expand way more than that to accommodate a wetsuit?

Would The 3186 Movement compared to the 3185 have any advantages over being able to adjust for better time keping? I mean like the 3135 has the 4 adjusters on the round thing the mainspring attaches to. Does the 3186 have the same thing?

Thankx for the help...

All the Rolex movements in the mens line up except the chronographs are all based on the cal 3135.Now the 3186 has slightly better second time zone adjustment over the 3185 but accuracy wise they are all chronometers tested to the same COSC standard. But no matter the movement its only as good as what its been regulated too. All the Rolex line up used the Microstella system the two smaller Microstella screws on balance wheel make adjustments of one second for each turn, and the larger Microstella, two seconds for one turn, but rate adjustment on the balance wheel its around a max of 30-50 seconds either way.And you need a microstella special tool and a timing machine although its quite a easy job if you are skilled in regulation. And the Rolex Rolex on the rehaute is little more than marketing branding. And its a hairspring on the balance wheel the mainspring powers the watch. And the word Perpetual is Rolex speak for automatic winding nothing more. The glidelock clasp could prove to be a improvement over the older type clasp but old type or new type bracelets will last a life time with just keeping them clean with plain soap and water.

Padi56--> Thanks for an insightful explanation. I have been going around and around as to which Brand I would go with. I have found that ROLEX is more than just a name and that it has over 100 years of bettering it's cutting edge watches to be contemporary and state-of-the-art. I think I have now found a Brand, and it's just a matter of which watch to start with.

I am having fun learning about each watch and movement and totally feel comfortable about the countermeasures ROLEX has taken to ensure it's pieces will be the best they can be not only aesthetically, but from forgers as well...

I can't imagine not having a Rolex in a decent collection. Good luck in your search.

You'll read "buy the seller" on here over and over again. There are some scary fakes and frankenwatches out there and unless you REALLY know your watches, it's very scary. So don't get comfortable with Rolex's countermeasures, all of it can be forged. Buy the seller.
