I've seen several mags recently, and they have stated that the Explorer 2 ref 16570 was first released in 1991.however, I've also seen some literaure stating its as early as 1988.

I have come across a s/n E9xxxxx , wif papers stating its made in 91.Nice yellowed hour markers, giving it a very unique look.Does anyone here have a 16570 thats earlier......say a 'R' or 'L' or even a 9 mil s/n..????

From what I have seen it seems like 1989 was the last year of production for the 16550. So L would be the last 16550, although I am not sure if Rolex made some 16570 with L or began with E.

Maybe some other members could confirm.
