Welcome to TRF. If i where you i would not wear it cause sometimes there is risk of scratching the watch while working out. On the other hand i know a lot of people that do wear their watches while working out. All depends on how comfortable you feel.

???

You've got the watch that was designed for 200meters deep offshore circumstances, only when you are about to play golf or intensive tennis with it take it to your AD and mention it while serviced, they will secure the osc. weight (it can come loose while swinging continiously)
In all other means, it is a beater for all purpose

I work out 4/5 times a week and I wear my SD on a zulu strap. It is quite comfortable and has held up just fine. just dont' wear it too tight as your wrist will swell while excersising.

I don't work out but wouldn't wear it while doing so if I did. You belong to the Rolex elite so you've nothing more to prove to the mere mortals. If you need to tell time, get a sacrificial Casio so that can risk becoming damaged and gunked up.

I have worked out with my GMT and it was fine. I was a little more cautious because there is a lot of metal in the gym and as far as durability....you are wearing a tank.

I wear my rolex occassionally. I just bought a brand new SD and I have a 10yr old SS SUB. I just got my SUB polished and man, it looks bran new and I am now afraid of wearing it. The reason it doesn't have a single scratch on the dial over the last 10yrs is that I wore it occassionally. At one point, I totally forgot I had a rolex and it went unworn for 3 yrs, locked up in my closet. Then I would wear it for a week and lock it up for another 6months etc etc ...

Yes I am afraid to scratch it but most of all, I treat my watches like a fine cigar. You take it out once ina while fomr the box, take a little sniff and put it back in. If you smoked a fine cigar everyday, pretty soon its fineness will become ordinary and you'll be bored.

But it is your watch, your scratches, your responsibility. I have seen people wear them in gyms and treat them as though they were wearing rubber bands on their wrists ... not a thought in the world ... and the rollies do fine.... I have a suunto for my daily wear ...

You have a good watch there..

SD's have spent a lot of time on boats and ships where folks swing heavy SCUBA tanks and anchors around all the time. They dive steel hulks and sharp coral reefs..it seems to be OK.

I think it would hold up fine around a few free weights unless you really work out at a furious pace...

Besides, it is much safer on your wrist than in any locker..

I work in the downtown core, and go to our local YMCA downtown...which can be...er...dodgy at times.

I've had the lock on my locker cut off while I was working out, so now I lock my Sub ND in my office filing cabinet (along with my wedding ring) when I go to the Y.

I'm sure my watch could handle my workout, but just can't bring myself to take the risk of losing my watch due to theft.

You have a watch that can handle anything.

I go to the gym 5-7 days a week and wear my Sub all of the time. You won't hurt the SD

oh yeah, definitely not leave it in the locker at gym or your office. people are people and they will jump on any opportunity to steal. I rather crush my brand new SD with a sledge hammer rather than lose it to theft, at least I can say I did it .... in the theft case, how dumb I would feel ... man on man, the thought of someone else wearing my watch or pawning it .... I wouldn't be able to see another rolex for the next 18yrs.....

I wear my Exp II all the time, jogging, working out, manual labour, whatever.
If I can the watch can, and there is no way I would leave a watch of that value lying around in a locker.

If you're lifting with the SD on, be sure to compensate with extra weight on the opposite side!

I would leave it in your car's glove compartment (locked), car trunk or office cabinet (locked)

Wearing it or not is entirely up to you, just be careful not to bang it into anything that can hurt it. Take the watch's security in mind, though. I recommend not letting anyone see where it goes when you put it away. They can't swipe it if they don't know where it is...

Bonjour,
My friend, I too have a SD which I wear daily. The watch is worn when I work, eat, and run (usually 2 miles every other day) I would say your SD could take anything you give it. If you are a power lifter I would not wear the SD while lifting weights or benching. I feel the torque placed on the band could wear it out early or cause the band to snap.

Running with your SD keeps it full of energy which in turn keeps great time.
Good luck to you.

My watch has crawled through 3 deserts, run hundreds of miles, fired thousands of rounds and goes to the gym at least 4 times a week. It’s dove above the Arctic Circle, below the Equator and in lots of filthy harbors in between. It can easily take the workout… and lots more. If you can snap the band doing a bench press my hat is off to ya. Cheers

It was a SS Sub… having said that, I should also note that I have a new one now. My veteran was lost in a diving incident.

Welcome to TRF!

The SD is the toughest Rolex model made, and it can handle VERY rough situations, even a motorcycle accident. Although the watch does not looks good anymore, it is still intact:

So I guess you can take it to the gym without any worries.

The safest place to stash your watch is almost always on your wrist. I wear one of my watches to the gym every day. I keep it on my wrist at all times, including the pool, weight room, cardio room, basketball gym, sauna and shower.

No problem.
