To my eye the two watches don't look at all alike so I'd say no problem getting the GMT. Now if you owned a YG Sub instead of the DD, well then maybe.
I doubt anything new coming with the GMT in the near future. The current version has been around since 2005 but the Sub just got the maxi case a little while ago and 7-8 years is not that long in "Rolex" years. If anything they will come out with Coke and Pepsi versions first and no one is holding their breath that will happen either. But if you are buying from an AD you should at least check prices for BNIB here so you know what kind of discount you should be expecting. Not that an AD will discount that much, but discounts are available.

Gmt for sure
Well you said it yourself, you would use the gmt features the way I see it the more features you can use for more you get out of your watch.
I purchased a Milgauss GV and since I work around machinery, servers and PC equipment, the 1000 Gauss resistance will be more practical for me than a date and day. If I can't remember what day if the week it is I should forget that I wear a Rolex. Conversely I will buy a blue sub. Do I need the date? No, do I need the extra 200m water proof ness ? No. But I really adore that shade of dark blue plus it's my favourite color. One big major feature I find useful are the lumes which your GMT had but the DD does not. Can't read the time at night? That's only half the time you can see what time it is (unassisted). The lumes are nice. The gmt is gorgeous to look at. Be rest assured you will enjoy the Gmt in years to come. |

My goal is to find a sportier gold Rolex.
The lume is great on the GMT and I'd use the feature for business or traveling. Honestly, after having a 41mm, I'm hoping Rolex might increase the diameter like they did with the DJ, DDII, explorer, etc. |

I think the answer is buy. Waiting also runs the risk of ending up on the wrong side of the always imminent (according to threads) price increase

Should've started a poll! Lol!
Unless I get a great deal on one, I'll wait. Put a few feelers out there. We'll see what fate brings. I'm not expecting anything. We'll see ... |

Go Gold Daytona and then you can get a variety of color in your dial options.
Super sporty, Comfortable and Rolex's only Chronograph. A must in any collection. |
