True Story: Son Steals From Own Father
I know most of us here are either perpetrators or victims of this crime...
There is something uniquely profound about a son stealing his father's vintage Rolex! It is the true testament of the timeless designs of these classics. Here is my loot (My father was a "willing victim") |

I did this to my dad if he left any sitting around. It's only natural.

Watches are meant to be handed over to kith and kin in most cases. Well done and a good steal!

In this case I would have no problem with a hand me down.
Great looking watch.

As long as your father willingly assisted you in your watch heist, wear it like you stole it:). I am sure many fathers here wish the kids would take a fancy to their vintage collections!

Many moons ago I got married I "borrowed" my Dad's tank style gold Hamilton for the big day. He received it for either his HS or college graduation in the 40's. Somehow it never made it back to him. I also borrowed his Benrus wristalarm. Dad is passed now but his watches have both been completely overhauled and worn on special occasions. Yesterday I took my collection out and was winding them, my preschooler was watching me intently. I guess what goes around, comes around!!

It's a timeless piece indeed.
You're lucky you could 'steal' such beauty from your father, don't forget to thank him. On the other hand it's really nice if a son inherit his fathers' collection |

Real beauty... Remember to do the same when the time comes, that's how you keep it going and make it real.
Congrats, great dad |

I could not borrow from my dad, as one of these was way above his means at the time, but I look forward to the day my son starts the borrowing exercise.
By the way, my daughter is very keen on my watches and she has a very sharp eye for anything Gilt / Rail /Red / PCG. If it comes with no lug holes or a plexy, she scoffs at it. It's going to get interesting. |

Sometimes it goes the other way: both of my father's Rolexes were gifts from me. Mother got envious enough that she helped herself to my Speedking.
