Finally tried the Sky-Dweller on in person and I was correct in my assumption that I wouldn’t like this watch. The symmetrics are off and I think its way overpriced for that kind of complication. I think a true annual calendar from Rolex can command that sort of price but not this watch. It’s about $15k overpriced. I would take a DDII any day over this watch.

That being said, I’m glad Rolex is trying new things and stepping out of their comfort zone. I only hope that this watch will be a gateway to more complications.

I think its a beautiful watch. Probably because its still really new that people dont like it. Once it matures I think it would be a great watch to have. Especially the rose gold one with the leather strap.

Such a pity they didn't include the Day in this also. I would say the Day is a much more useful piece of information for most people than the Month, (notwithstanding the horology of the complication).

I concur. The second time zone is less useful here. It would have been nice to see a day wheel where the 2nd zone is shown. Strange to see a calendar that shows day and month, then for no reason a 2nd time zone.

Tried it on once. Did not dislike it as much in person...but it's a "Big un."

Proportions are a smidge out of whack.

I agree. I think a day-date with a GMT function that was symmetrical would have been best!

Too bad you could not love it... I will say after months of ownership the Sky-Dweller by far is the best Rolex to own and enjoy by a long shot and this is coming from a chap who owns quite a few precision instruments across some of the major horology houses ;-)

The RG on strap is the best looking Sky-Dweller out there for sure.

The GMT wheel is off center.

As I have said before and will say again Sam, your combo of dial and RG is stunning!

Functionally its not a "wantonebad" watch, but I certainly can appreciate it's amalgamation of form and function, it really is a remarkable watch and as a fan of Rolex and watches in general it's a feather in their cap for sure!

I must say I never was a huge fan of the Skydweller until yesterday when i tried it on just for the sake of it. A RG sky dweller on a leather strap it was a BEAUT if the price was a bit more achievable i would have pulled the trigger. The RG skydweller is the best looking sky dweller compared to the other skydweller with YG and WG. The RG contrast very well with the strap looks very well

I tried on a YG version a few months ago and it looks nicer than the pictures give it credit IMHO. It's still some way down the want's list but it's not a complete no no of a watch.

I've tried on all 3, and make no mistake, the pictures don't to them justice IMO. They are beautiful pieces. I was very close to purchasing a YG SkD but the price wasn't flexible just yet so I decided on a YG DD and will hopefully next year purchase a SkD. With a flexible price on the DD, it ended up being close to 20k difference. I figured i could get that and a Steel AP and still be under the 46k+ price.

Also, like its been said, I REALLY would have liked to see the day ... No one should ever forget the month lol (the mechanics are nice though).

Hmm...interesting. By symmetrics being off, do you mean the overall piece, or the dial? I haven't seen one yet in person, but one observation about the second time zone wheel: I'm not sure I like how it "cuts off" the bottom numerals...I would have to see it on person to make a judgement.

I hear many say that it's not worth it for an annual calendar, but what I think some fail to see is the impressive way Rolex implemented the controls for the annual calendar. It is simply genius, IMO. For that reason alone, I think it demands the price they are asking. Again, just my opinion.
