Relume vintage Tudor Submariner 76100?
I just bought a 1983 vintage Tudor 76100 in extremely good condition from a forum member. To my eye it is as advertised, "a perfect example". Lollipop hands, original bracelet, unpolished. My question is if I have the dial and hands relumed will it completely destroy the value of the piece? I will probably keep it but there's always a chance I'll want to trade or sell.

See if you can find a luminova service insert & hands and keep the old ones. Might be hard but they might out there somewhere.

Yes, it will really have a negative impact on the future value of the watch. I have a 5513 that I had relumed. I don't believe that it had much of a negative impact on the value of the watch because the watch had previously had a terrible relume. However, if you have a watch with a good dial and hands......it will absolutely hurt the value.

I would keep it in original condition if you're concerned about re sale value. If you must replace try to find service hands and dial as posted above and keep the originals locked up in the safe.

Keep it as it is, Mine has had the hands replaced at some stage and although it is still a stunning piece I would rather it still have the original hands to match the dial!!

I wear vintage rolex , I love them but once in a while it would be nice to see at night !
So what I do is use my cell phone to check the time ........ But not how you think . Why would you use a cell if you wear a Rolex . I use the cell as a light to see my watch. Lol , true story . Mike B , Canada ⌚ |

Don't relume!!!! My opinion at least as a die hard vintage enthusiast... Not to mention the resale value will plumet. The only instance in which it would be permissible to relume is if the dial or hands have already been replaced and or painted over IMO. Post some pics! Heres my '68 tudor.

get some replacement hands and dial. Not nearly as costly on the Rolex Black Market as the snowflake hands and dial as the triangle dials and mercedes hands are available through an RSC still.

This might be a fun project. you could get an authentic dial and hands and have them relumed by someone like kent parks. He can tint the superluminova to look like vintage patina and you get the best of both worlds.......vintage look and glow like a champ.
