Thunderbird
Does the term "Thunderbird" apply only to the Turn-O-Graph? Where does it come from?
Thanks for your help. |

Welcome to TRF!
If i'm not mistaken, the name Thunderbird got stuck in the mid 1950s when the USAF started to award pilots of the famous flying acrobatic Thunderbirds with this DJ watch with the Turn-O-Graph bezel. Hope this helps.

Welcome to TRF, Sam!
Maybe Stuart ("arttay10") will post a pic of his stunning TT "Thunderbird" MOP dial!

T-Birds are fabulous instruments.... I had a chance to collect one 2 years ago, and kick myself regularly for not doing so.
Nice one Larry!

The model "Turn-O-Graph" per se...are 16268/16263/16264 n 116261/116263/116264...they are normally not being referred to as "Thunderbird". |

Thunderbird
Hi,
I have bought a TT thunderbird 1625, not 16250. Its a great looking watch, esp. with the rotating gold bezel. Movt. is 1570 the standard one of those times, 60s & 70s. Yes its named after the USAF pilots flying the Thunderbirds. |
