I would and will wear it with pride. I wear my 2tone DJ II and Subby at work without any issues. They actually ask me how I can afford the watch and all I can say through years of hard work. Wear it with pride!!

It depends on a lot of things, like:

...How old are you? ...and your boss?
...How solid is your relationship with your boss?
...What watch does your boss wear?
...Might your boss be intimidated by your DD? ...do you care if he is?
...

It's questions like these you need to ask/answer before making a decision.

Everyone has their hobbies. Don't be ashamed or apprehensive of yours. You like, appreciate, and collect fine time pieces. My direct boss wears a bulova, his boss a DD yellow gold given to him by the company, and his boss(part owner) a gold sub blue face given to him by the co. They are all clueless about watches,

Wear it. I like the idea of the DD in WG too - understated elegance.

No, but I would wear a Patek minute repeater (lol j/k). To answer the question, yes, I wear nicer watches than my boss all the time.

Yes. But my boss wears a $70k Patek so it really wouldn't be awkward.

I used to worry about what to wear in front of my boss or mu customers.

But now I don't worry about it, just found out my boss is a total non-WIS but is a hell of a collector of iconic cars think Ford GT, Shelby Cobra, Mini Coopers, Porsche 911, etc. He may have a $200.00 watch on his wrist but he drives some of the most iconic cars around.

That got me thinking that I drive a Toyota SUV so he may be thinking my ride is a POS but he still drives himself around with what he likes for the today. So now, I wear my Rolex and Tudors, Omegas, IWCs if I feel like it.

For customers, some may be WIS or some may not be WIS. The WIS will even engage in a healthy talk about watches so that doesn't get me worried. The non-WIS won't even recognise the watch and the brand. So same as with my boss, I wear what I like. Anyway, in my job I won't charge them more just because I wear a Rolex.

Life's too short to worry about what people will say. If they did, then that's their problem not mine.

Wear it with pride, you have work hard (I hope) for what you have and if your boss wants to judge you for spending your cash on a watch with will out live you ,then I think it is time for a new boss.
I had the conversation with my boss not long again about this and he ask me if I was looking at buying more watchers, when I replied "of course" he said great now go back to work so you can. 😛 he loves that I spend my money on high end items because that just means I want to work hard to make more cash so I can.

Given I nowhere near a C-Level position it gave me pause to think there may be some awkwardness in my office which has me thinking of other watches that aren't as ostentatious at first glance.

To those DD owners or anyone else for that matter given these times what do you think?
Ask yourself why you bought your DD,answer to wear it and enjoy it end of story.

Depends if its WG or Platinum yes, but the Yellow Gold and Rose Gold variants are too "out there".

Not an issue at all to wear it in a meeting with your boss. I have worn subs, DJ and my Expy 2 many times in meetings with my boss. He doesn't wear a watch so I doubt he even notices. Plus the DD (especially in WG or Plat) isn't really all that flashy. It's a fantastic watch and if I had the funds I would certainly own one and would not hesitate to wear it.

Agree with the above, you saved for a nice watch, why not. If you saved up for a nice car would you not drive it because your boss might see it? He probably won't even notice.

All else equal I would wear it. One of the most common themes on TRF is that most non-WIS will never notice that you're wearing a Rolex. I think that extends to bosses.

I fully agree, get the watch you love and don't worry about what others think. If your boss notices it, at least he will appreciate how good you are at managing your money... just make sure that is the real reason you can afford one. If you have anything to hide, better not ask for the attention or he might start looking into company finances

The number one fear in life for most people is the opinion of others. Once you overcome this fear you will gain a strength you never knew you had.

I would! I bought the watch, I worked for it, I deserve to wear it whenever and wherever I want. Wearing an expensive watch doesn't necessarily mean you're a self righteous d-bag, it means you care enough about watches that you're willing to invest your money on one. If he really wanted one he would find a way to get it, no doubt he makes more than you anyway. He's probably got some nice stuff you don't have and probably you don't care for anyway. It's all about what you care about enough to put your hard earned cash into.

Wear my watch pretty much everyday to work. Never have had anyone ask what it is as I don't think most people even notice watches unless they are a watch fan. My boss wears a Tag and several other people at my office wear Rolex so I don't have any issues wearing mine anyway.
