I can tell you that as a Mexican national moving back to Mexico after leaving overseas for a few years, I was able to get a "one-time" stamp on my passport indicating that I was moving back and therefore I did not have to pay any import duties on anything that I brought back. Maybe the US has a similar rule?

Most interesting statement,

"According to US Customs, an individual can hand carry one Rolex from a trip overseas without permission. Carrying more than one Rolex watch from outside of the country is a trademark violation of Rolex U.S.A. and they can be impounded".
As the text explicitly says, this concerns ONLY "newly purchased Rolex". It does not apply to this thread.

I was in Singapore as an expat for over 10 years. When we moved back to the states. We had 2 Cartier, 2 Rolex, one Concord, one Omega. We just hand carried them back in my brief case and handbag. After all, our passports indicated clearly that I was an expat for many years. We had no issues and did not declare them because we were not tourists visiting S'pore. These are used watches like yours. I would not carried them in a large watch case to attract attention but I would not hide them either. If the customs sees them, I would just tell I used to live overseas as an expat and I am a watch collector. I would suggest to carry the receipts with you to prove that these are used watches and you have purchased them during the years as an expat.

Further to my post, the watches you have bought are really no different from the other personal property you have accumulated as an expat such as furnitures, clothings, paintings, electronic equipments, speakers.etc, which you are shipping back home.

If the customs decided you have to pay some duties, which would not be much, then pay it. But I would not try to hide them like stating they belong to your wife who is not a US citizen. I don't know whether you have declared them when you came back for home leave. I recall that I have declared a couple of watches that we wore each time we came back for home leave every year. But again, fancy watches were cheap in the 70's!
