New Macro Lens - SOTC

I've wanted a Macro lens for ages, and was finally able to get one yesterday. What to try it out on first though? Obvious really.....

My first 'Proper' watch - Breitling Navitimer 01. I've loved the Navitimer for a long time and the in house B01 movement (and the red second hand) make the 01 my favourite of them all.

I love the back too - a few scratches but a watch needs patina...

My second 'Proper' watch - Rolex Sea Dwelller 16600. I wanted something that was totally different to the Navitimer. As the Navitimer is a pilot's watch the obvious opposite (to me) was a diver. The Sea Dweller (again to me) is the archetypal diver and I absolutely love mine.

I'm developing a bit of a thing for Russian Watches, all started off by this little Luch one hander

Finally - my wife and younger son have also kindly allowed me to buy them nice watches for various occasions over the last year. I love the elegance and simplicity of the face on my wife's Longines (as does she!) and the display back on my son's Hamilton...

Hope you like the pics - definitely first attempt but I'm loving the lens so far. Off to play some more

Which macro/micro lens is this, Nikon, Canon, 40mm, 60mm, etc? What were the settings for these shots?

Absolutely cracking photos old chap. I think you have a certain knack there - not to mention a couple of watches I'm very seriously jealous of!

Thanks for all the positive feedback - I don't think they're nearly as good as some I've seen here, but for a first effort I'm pleased. Setup wasn't anything massively technical. Canon EOS 7D with 100mm f2.8 Macro lens and tripod/remote release. Lit using daylight from a window to the left and a reflector on the right for some of them (not the Sea Dweller because that just made the crystal reflect horribly). Bit of processing in Photoshop and all done!

Next step will be to try to make some more atmospheric shots - maybe get my lights out and play. Not today though - time for a glass of something cold

I'd say - on the basis of those - that you've deserved it.

Cheers!
