Not a good idea to remove the cyclops, because a cyclops-shaped mark (the anti-reflective coating) will be left behind

Yah, it appears to be true of the GMTIIc (pic from Sheldon's Minus4Plus6 site), but now that Rolex are using A/R on most if not all watches with a cyclops I'd be wary all the same... Perhaps a better idea would be to acquire a spare crystal and modify it (remove cyclops and A/R coatings), keeping the original safe (note that the A/R coating is both above and below the the crystal)
