Another trade question

Hi,

I think I have a flipping disease. Just don´t want to make expensive mistakes that I will regret. Thats why I am asking for your opinion...

Would you trade these Gmt2c, Exp2 and GV to SS Black dial Daytona and Submariner Ceramic Hulk? Three watches for two.

Would that be an even trade or how much should cash to be put between? All watches would be max. three years old (V-series or younger).

Thanks for your opinions.

Regards,
Kristian from Finland

I'm not into trades (yet) myself, but there is no chance in the world I would do what you suggested. You have amazing pieces IMO!

If you did that trade, how'd you know the time across TZ's?

But as far as fair value, I'd say you have more value in the 3 than the other 2. Perhaps $1-2K more.
But just my 2¢...

You can figure the real-world differences by combing through sales and auction sites for final sales values.

Money wise it's not too far off. You should do what your gut and desire points. Good luck.

I like the GV, but I would flip that for the LVC and have the perfect SS trio.

My gut reaction was NO WAY, but after a second moment's consideration I see you're going from three very sports models to two more prestige sports models, if that makes sense. The trade seems about even to me money wise, so it's really a function of preference.

That was exactly my point and idea in that trade I described! I think that SS Daytona and Hulk are more sought after and prestige models than my current ones - at least here in Finland.

Another option I was thinking was just to trade GV and Exp2 to SS Daytona and keep the Gmt2c for now. The reason is that I think that Daytona might be the Grail for me. Even though I am not sure I would feel comfortable wearing so expensive (and maybe relatively small) watch. I have also played with the idea of TT blue SubC...

Maybe I am just a victim of marketing ("Daytonas hold their value best of Rolex sports watches and are hard to get and so on..."). But honestly, I don't see people flipping Daytonas as much as other watches and all the owners seem to be very satisfied with it. Like they would have reached the goal. So maybe me too...?

But at the moment I do like to wear my Exp2. It is my daily beater. I have had it for three months. Other watches don't seem to get any wrist-time. But still I think that the boredom is starting making its way...

I have no desire nor money to add any more watches in my collection. In fact, I get a real (and I mean real) headache thinking everyday which watch should I wear. I should have more important things to worry about and to spend my effort. Thats also one reason why I think lesser amount of watches would be better for me.

(Previously I have had pepsi gmt, couple of subs and datejusts, Speedy Pro and Seamaster Pro and have flipped them over the years). Rolex is the only watch brand for me.

Thanks everyone for your valuable opinions! All comments are welcome. I have not yet decided what to do. Pardon my bad english.

Best regards,
Kristian from Finland

I say no. Have you tried on a Daytona? I personally feel they wear small. Going from an EXII, the Daytona might not fit the bill. Just an opinion

Take this from another "serial" flipper...

You have a great collection as is. I think in the long run you'll be happier saving and adding one watch at a time-or at the very least doing a one for one flip- to it as opposed to switching out big chunks of it. I think based on what you have I would shoot for a sub next and then you can either swap one piece for the daytona or get one outright. Take your time and carefully evaluate your watches before you do this. Just my two cents.

I have a Daytona but rarely wear it. I do wear a exp2 often so I would say no.
If you just gotta have a Daytona then I'd add it.
( I would change the GV for a Hulk though)
