Hello everyone,

I've been offered a W series white dial SS Daytona. I am going to look at it tomorrow but I believe it is in 95% condition (minor scratches, should polish out). It comes with box, tags and booklet but no Cosc papers although it does have a RSC service document from 2003.

This is one of the earlier models with the Zenith movement and I think it must be from around 1996(?).

Could I please ask for advice on buying a used Zenith Daytona and some ideas for valuation.

My initial feeling is that you should buy this watch, if the price isn't too outlandish. You say you are going to get a look at it tomorrow...GREAT!!! Take a look and let us know what you think.

I bought a TT Zenith Daytona (1998-vintage) from eBay and absolutely LOVE it!!!

Please keep us informed of the progress on this deal, but I would say "YES" to start with!

What are they asking?

I'm not a professional watch guy, but I have seen SS Zenith Daytonas for $14-18k USD range depending on year and condition...and seen people asking >$20k for "special" ones.

I save a SS Zenith Daytona with factory Arabic Numerals going for $25k+

Look on ebay for a market pricing comparison.

Yes, you are right. The seller is an independent watchmaker whom I know and trust. He is selling it for another customer.
As for the price, I think it is around $12K.

Simon, You are a very lucky man.
I missed the boat on this ref.
I had a new in-house steel Daytona and it was my grail, but I hated the fat hands and hour markers I need a 16520

Hi Mark,

Right now I am feeling very lucky. That may be due to the fact that my collection is at the high-tide mark and I have just managed to bag my grail Daytona. It is near perfect, just a small ding on one side and some tiny chips to the edge of the crystal, otherwise perfect.

I am a little miffed at not having the original COSC certificate but the RSC service certificate from 2004 makes up for that to some extent.

Also, I'm not sure if the box is the right one for the model / year so I may post some pics to seek clarification some time. But hey! I've got white dialled SS Zenith Daytona!!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome, and thanks for posting the pics. I love that shot on the webbing strap, very brave. I've seen people shot for daring to put a webbing strap on a submariner. I think the Daytona looks great of webbing too.

I also have a Rolex Daytona E serial that is in ok condition, not the best but no major scratches, I was wondering what is the worth on this item? Thanks
