Speedmaster in my future?
I'f my search for a $2500 GMT leaves me dry, I'm considering pulling the trigger on a Speedmaster Date:

Mike, I would go with the original Speedmaster. Like the GMT it has a history few watches can touch.

That's a tough one. You have to get what you really want. If you settle for one of them, you're not going to be happy. I went the GMT route first, if I hadn't, I would have been miserable. But, a Speedy is definitely on the radar

If you really want a GMT I'd hold out for it. But, the Moon watch is very cool too, it's just they are so different. I voted to wait for a GMT.

I've owned three Speedmasters, and one of them was a Valjoux Day-Date automatic. I sold it after a week at a big loss because it felt cheap, kept poor time, and its chronograph operation was less than stellar.
The Pro Moon, on the other hand, just feels right, runs well, is a classic, and will keep its value. If I had to choose between the Moon watch and any GMT-Master, I'd favor the latter

I also voted to wait for the GMT, I think you can find many good deals out there.

Moon watch straight away - you won't be disapointed. I've seen superb watches for as litle as $1200. Keep an eye out for your GMT as well, bu this will take a while longer, and in the meantime how will you know what time it is?
But I'm biased.....Oddly I've *just* found a $2500 GMT 16750 which I will pick up soon, and it will share wrist time with my moon watch, which I've owned since 1997. |
