In no small sence the storied history that is Rolex falls to the collector/admirer of vintage.

Rolex created a wide range of new generation watches in the past 5 years starting with the GMT. Don't agree.

They were riding on the Chinese market bubble to increase their prices over 30% over three years or so. That was greed and business. But isn't that what any business is about :"profit"!!
I think the exp2 would have been a home run with keeping the 40 mm and adding the orange hand, but the demand for larger watches made it the least classic of the bunch hence the size change gamble. But it worked well for what I see!!!!

I THINK Rolex biggest mistake was to loose, Year after Year, the edge they had on inovation and design of their watches. Just Compare what they produce today with what they did in the 70's or 80's. To name one watch, I have a Coke GMT that was produced 32 Yes ago. In short, they have nothing on the market today as powefull or strong compared to what they had 40, 30, 20 years ago. In this fórum we have passion, but the market does not behave that way. Competitors are catching up...

That's exactly right!

As for having created nothing exciting in the past five years, I very strongly disagree. You may not personally like some of the upgrades, but they are definitely exciting. I like the bold moves, like the larger ExpII or the maxi case on the subs. And whether you're a fan of them or not, the Sky Dweller and the Yachtmaster II are very exciting new watches.

If in the next few years we don't get a ceramic panda Daytona or GMTc Pepsi then I think these will be big missed opportunities.

This, although a good watch guy can service your vintage watch with ease. But if you need a genuine replacement (dial, hands,crystal) .. good luck sourcing one.

I am a relative newcomer to this forum as well as wearing a Rolex. I bought an Explorer1 in the first week of January this year.

To be honest, I would think that the occasional thread of this nature must be a Godsend to Rolex because they get first hand experience of what their customers think of the brand in both a positive and negative manner. Most of the criticism in this thread has been constructive and that must be useful to the Rolex marketing dept.
