The winner was a local kid, RC Enerson...who was second yesterday. They both seem to be a little better than the rest of the field at least this weekend so it'll be interesting to see what adjustments everyone else makes.

Big pileup early in the race this morning which eliminated 7 cars but the restart and the rest of the race was all under green....thank goodness.

Were you on the website for the live timing? Fabio's father was on their also. I know he was a little frustrated with the site also.

Barber is up next.

Yep I was watching live T&S bounce up and down while listening to PA on Livestream. That GF incident was aggressive driving on cold tires IMHO.

Enerson has been around that street circuit before - this is his 3rd year in series. But not picked up for ProFM yet. That's the next step in the ladder.

Looks like Victor was disqualified - something about the flywheel on his engine - post race inspection. Needless to say, we're not happy and are trying to figure out what happened. It sounds like the team was rebuffed in trying to appeal the decision. I imagine that the team owner and manager are pissed right about now.

I just got off the phone with Victor - amazing attitude from the kid.... "I'll just wait on the next race and get the points back." He returns to Brazil tomorrow and will be there until it's time to go to Barber/Birmingham.

The spec Mazda MZR engine package doesn't allow for alternate flywheels, nor lightening of them. So it failed - this happens - what Victor said is right attitude.

If the scrutineers warned the team about appealing the decision then it would be for a good reason.

For example, in Saturday's win - the items for inspection may not have included the flywheel. But for Sunday - it obviously did.

Since the same engine ran Saturday and Sunday - a DQ for Sunday was minimum penalty "non-compliant cars may not finish ahead of compliant cars".

If an appeal is filed, then the Stewards get to investigate everything - even tracing back to Saturday's results. Very possibly the risk was losing the Saturday result as well.

Victor's dad may have "something's fishy" fears but the Scrutineers have no skin in the game to DQ one driver over another. They weigh the flywheel and it is a "go or no-go" decision. If the measurement tools were faulty then other flywheels would have failed the test, too.

..Sounds like F1 'rekindled'... (or 'Compliance' Mode)...
Is it possibe ...() ..that the measurement tools are out of 'sync' ..at that time, for His test...(after other car's tests..)..and that the calibration could be 'Off'...?!?!? - Tools are Tools.. and loose, some efficiency over time/usage..?!? - Uh, Just a though..?? - Since ..everthing is So, technical,..perhaps there was/has been, a technical fault in the readings...??!!

No - as I mentioned, if the testing tools were awry, then other flywheels would've failed too. It's a spec series aimed at a level platform so the drivers are depending upon talent.

Then I presume that, that 'non-compliant car' , was set up by the 'Team', with or with the drivers knowledge, hense , All, is at fault.

The car was set-up by the team. Engines are built and sealed by Elite. The drivers have no idea of the parts inside the engine (like the flywheel).


The team can't disassemble the engine because it's sealed so they aren't aware. Methinks the engine builder (Elite) made an error.

Either way it is non-compliant.

..Of course the 'Team' would not be aware..(sealed etal...) -So, IMO, the onise of responsibility falls on the engine builder, Ie, 'Elite.'.. -
Did they, ' Elite' ..only 'build' Victor's engine/trany/gearing ratio... or did they supply the same, to the others as well...?!?! - Since it is a 'Sealed' competition!
...I'd persue it.. - but then again, it might be easy for me say that... from here...!!
Worthy..of investigation, if one, wishes to persue it...-
Maybe not...and just move on to the next competition...!!

Elite builds all the engines for all the cars for all the teams. Take a look at USF2000.com and other places for the rules and technical specs.

Unless of course someone knows how to re seal the engines......I have seen it done in Europe.

Wrong, just because you are not allowed to does not mean they dont, I can assure you I have seen it done in Europe.

I believe it is unlikely but it can happen.

The view from just above the cockpit

If you have a large screen TV, watch this on that screen. This was from the St Pete race.

The leader is RC Enerson - a very talented driver out of FL. Victor kept the pressure on and passed him at about the 9:25 point. After that, you can see that he really poured it on to take the win.

Test session 1: something breaks - no laps.

Test session 2: your car lasts 5 laps, something breaks.

Practice session: car breaks again.

Qualifying: "Pursuant to Rule 8.3.4", your best time in qualifying is invalidated.

Race 1: you start D.F.L. and finish 13th but your fastest lap moves you up to the 3rd position to start Race 2.

Race 2: You display an amazing amount of skill and patience and while you drop to 5th during the race, you wait and watch for the perfect opportunity to pass the two cars in front of you for a podium finish in 3rd place.

Victor Franzoni persevered at Barber today. Great, great, great job.
