beginner rolex??

consider i am a beginner with limited budget, and willing to start learning and collecting, which type of rolex do you think i should first laid my hand of???

I am big fan of the new Air King! Cheap, but amazing and classy. Understated elegance. Here is the one I just bought.




Love the blue dial. If you need a date I would recommend the Oyster Perpetual Date. The new ones even have the polished center links and they look super hot! I even saw one today with a diamond dial!!

I love the Explorer I! Great Rolex with a amazing history!

Also the Explorer I is very popular and recognized in Asia.

Cant go wrong with any of these ideas.

My vote would go to the SS Sub Date, too.

It's THE iconic Rolex watch out there! Also, I believe you might miss the date function if you go for an AK, Sub ND or Explorer.

But try on some various models at your AD and go for the one that appeals most to you.

Firstly you must decide whether you want brand new, used (current model) or vintage.

Then sports or dress model.

Next is budget = one Rolex watch for you.

I'm going to go in a different direction and say that the best bang for the buck in Rolex sport watches with date is the Explorer II. You can usually get one for a few hundred more than the No-Date Sub.

I would research buying a "slightly" used GMTII; great value and great watch with several bezel options.
First question is budget, second would be new vs. used, third would be sport vs traditional DJ. After that, Oyster vs. Jubilee bracelet.

I would go for a used Rolex, vintage preferably without status yet.
If money is an issue, something between $1.100 and $1.400 dollars.
If you have a few extra dollars...?
Go for a like new Date or Date just, no collectible value there for many many years to come,
maybe with a fancy dial sooner (in 30 years..lol.. instead of 40).
Let me know the amount at hand for a better suggestion.

When you are purchasing a multi-thousand dollar watch, don't let budget determine what you wear. Get the one you want even if you have to wait just a little longer...you'll be glad you did

14060 - sub no date would be a good choice for a beginer Rolex esp on a limited budget.

One can be had from 2200- 2700 bucks.

If you need a date, then a DateJust would be a fine choice, but all depends whether you will be a sporty type or a dressy kind of guy type.

Do not buy the wrong watch at the right price. Hold out for the one that you really want. There is no such thing as a beginners Rollie. They are all ROLEX.

I agree......mostg AD's have "payment plans" and you shouldn't sacrifice what you like. Now, I'm not saying for you to go out and buy the next 18k YG GMT IIc.........but if you find the right one that "smiles back" and it's a little out of budget, I say GO FOR IT!

I would agree. Either spend extra money now or save until you can afford the one you really want. That is the one sure way of avoiding "buyer's remorse". Don't settle, find a way to get the one you want.

There are several options although your own taste and preference must dictate the outcome. Buy a used Rolex from a reputable source. Or you could buy a new Explorer. This may look a simple watch but it is a model with a great history and you can put it on a carbon strap for some variation. Or.... grit you teeth and save a bit longer to get one of the classics, Sub, Sub Date, DJ. Good luck with your decision

If you really want to collect, I would say - where do you want the collection to take you.. you know, vintage, or sport, or a certain look.

Going with the Explorer gives you lots of options... The Explorer has been around since the early 1950's and is the watch that the Sub and the Air King were born out of.

If you like the 34mm size, it is perfect and there are a number of different looks, although the classic is the 3,6,9 dials where those are the only numbers and the rest of the spots are sticks or batons....

Lot's of options and a world of enjoyment ahead of you..

A lot of the payment plans are no interest as well stretched out over a 12 month period of time. It gives you the opportunity to own a higher buck model up front and pay in installments w/o costing more with interest such as a credit card purchase.

Buy what you want, you won't regret it.
