A sad weekend
For those of you who follow F1, i have seen a few members including myself, this day, April 30th marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Ronald Ratzenberger at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994 at Imola.
May 1st is the day that we lost the arguably the greatest and most influential Formula 1 driver of all time, Ayrton Senna. Regarded by many current F1 drivers, past and present regard him as the best, fans and spectators alike. He would have been 54 this year and this is his 20th year gone from us. Just wanted to post something up as i was thinking about it.

Ayrton was a driver who defined "no holds barred" racing.
These two days are for remembering Ronald and Ayrton fondly. But I see it through another lens that mitigates mourning and makes a case for seeing it as a turning point. Fortunately these 2 deaths were the last in Formula One due to the safety improvements made afterwards.

Very true. Formula 1 is unlike anything out there. I like this picture of Ayrton:

I love F1, but the older accidents make me cringe.

I still remember where I was, where I was sitting, and my brother who is another F1 fanatic how we were stunned watching it live. We actually cried, two twenty something men. Thanks for posting.

I was 20(last year when i watched it) when i cried and watched the crash footage and the movie "Senna, No Fear. No Limit. No Equal." When i see Senna race, whether it be on youtube or SkySportsF1, or a tribute video I wave my arms wildly as if he was racing around the track.
