Sub/GMT/YM/Daytona Question

I'm very close to buying my first watch. I've been talking to DavidSW for a few days now and I need your opinions.

I'm looking for a sport model Rolex (sub, gmt, YM, daytona). I'm leaning towards the sub but I feel that there is a lack of "shine". I understand it is a subdued tool watch and being understated is a positive but I'm looking for something with a little more shine. What would you all suggest? I really like the way the fluted bezels and the polished center links shine on the DJII but I want to stay away from the DJII and get one of the more classic sport models.

What would you all buy in this case? Also, I'm buying BNIB and my budget is $10k.

IIc best matches your criteria.

given your budget (daytona out unless you add 15/20%), and your need for "shine" (sub out), i would say BLNR (a bit more visual presence than the black GMTIIc). depending on how BNIB you need it, you might even be able to swing a 116713 (or stretch a bit for that "extra shine" of YG).

PCLs are shiny. Sounds like it's down to the GMT or YM?

Why not get a sub and polish the center links?

Daytona is out BNIB if that's your budget (under $10k). I would go with GMTIIc...simply great watch.

Good news is, which ever on you choose, DavidSW will be able to help!

If I was willing to do an excellent condition used, and still have my $10,000 budget, would that change anyone's mind?

I think the DJII would give you exactly what you want, under budget. But, if you must have a sports watch, then I would go BLNR.

A two tone Submariner with a blue, or black dial. I prefer the blue myself. You can add another Rolex down the road with a black dial. Here is a TT black dial from David, which is brand new:

Given the criteria, I'd go this route as well.

Spend 9K and buy a BNIB GMT Black&Blue from a trusted seller here. The polished center links and black and blue bezel really make this a sharp looking timepiece!!

116710 IMO either ln or blnr will work. Second choice would be the 116622 By the way David rocks

I'd recommend the GMT, whichever bezel you prefer. Not only the PCLs shine but the ceramic bezel reflects light beautifully but in an understated way.

The Daytona might be a little out of your budget but consider it also lacks a date function - if that is useful to you. If this will be your only watch I'd go with a date model.

Don't know if this appeals to you but you might be able to get the GMT in TT from one of the sellers here for around $10K. Now we're talkin' shine!
