GMT BLNR for JLC MUT Moon 39

I have a GMT Master "Pepsi" which I wear regularly and I'm considering trading my new BLNR for a mint pre-owned JLC MUT Moon 39. I've always loved this watch and I don't own a dress watch. I also own several other Rolex sport watches and a Speedy. Given that the retail prices are roughly the same, I think a straight up trade would be fair and reasonable, no? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Many brands have recommended retail prices close to Rolex, but prices in store after discounts and especially prices for used watches can be another story. I would compare prices for used BLNR and JLC.

Sound advice.

I have the MUT moon 39. Great watch, but not worth the same $ used as a BLNR. I would do the trade if I were certain of keeping the JLC.

X3

Make sure you want the MUT moon because if you end up to selling it, you'll generally take a bath selling a used JLC.

You've got a GMT Pepsi. Why not go for the dress watch if that's what you want?

you only take a bath buying a watch (other than rolex or pp) if you pay full retail. Only suckers pay full retail. Any watch you can get at Tourneau, Wempe, etc (again besides rolex and pp) can easily be had for around 30% off of retail usually with no tax.

I have the MUT Moon and it is a very attractive elegant watch. It catches the eyes of my few friends who know watches. I also have a BLNR on order. I agree to save up for the MUT. In dollar terms, I would only trade a new BLNR for a used MUT if I also got some cash. Nothing implied negative about the MUT, love the watch, just economics.

You should definitely get some cash coming your way if you're trading a Rolex and another brand that have similar MSRPs. Patek is the outlier there, but simply looking at used prices right now, you should be looking for $1500-2000 back. NO WHERE NEAR an even trade.
