I have my eyes on the GMT II BLNR and Datejust II two-tone slate dial with green markers. My last watch was a Timex, so this is a bit of an upgrade.

I like the GMT because its sporty, I can wear it at work, on the weekends, and can pass it off as a sporty watch and not as a rolex.

However the Datejust II has caught my eye because it is the classic rolex look and the fluted bezel makes it look elegant. I also like the green markers because that makes it unique.

If anyone has chosen between the two models, I know they are very different watches, please let me know what helped you make your decision. Also let me know what else I should be considering.

The GMT is a better all occasion watch. Goes with Shorts / T-shirt as well as dress cloths...

The TT DJ is beautiful (and unique) I used to have a TT with Black /Gold Romans, but I found it a little too dressy for everyday.

That is just my opinion you should buy what you like.
You need to try both on...don't go by pics, try them on, walk around the store for a while.

Either way...you will have a great watch

See if you can find this watch pre owned for a good deal. I have tried on every Rolex, but I keep coming back to this one.

Any GMT is a classic,as is the DJ(36mm), right now IMO the DJII is not yet reached that level.

My gmt gets a lot more wear than my DJ.

Appreciate the DJ is smaller than the dj2 but fluted bezel and crisp dial do make it very dressy, mine has super jubilee too but I imagine the PCLs on the dj2 give a similar dressy look.

Gmt m2 also incredibly versatile, pepsi bezel is incredible and looks good with jubilee too.

Tough choice. Try them on yet? DJII you mentioned was my favorite in pics, and even in the display case. When I tried it on, it did nothing for me though. It was such a let down.

I have both (not a TT though) and would recommend the GMTIIc as a first watch. Maybe sometime later you can add the DJII. The GMTIIc is a better daily watch IMO.

I love the GMTc, period. Great complication, very usefull and versatile. It looks upscale enough for evening and tool watch for everyday wear. Personally, I prefer the LN for its simplicity, but either way the GMT stands out in a masculine way.

I'd get an older GMT Pepsi or the DJII prior to the BLNR personally.

I would go with the DJII because it is more versatile. You can wear it to formal or casual occasions

Out of these two I would go GMT. If it was between the 36mm DJ and the GMT much harder choice for me. Much prefer the classic DJ to the newer model.

I'll be watching this thread with interest as I am in the exact same position between these two watches (and also the 116334 diamond rhodium dial).

Im 33 so am thinking that the TT DJII may be more for an older man.

Appreciate the DJ is smaller than the dj2 but fluted bezel and crisp dial do make it very dressy, mine has super jubilee too but I imagine the PCLs on the dj2 give a similar dressy look. Gmt m2 also incredibly versatile, pepsi bezel is incredible and looks good with jubilee too.
