Question on dial

Hi, new to Rolex and Tudor. Ive been searching for a vintage watch and came across a couple that have both Rolex and Tudor on the dial. Know Tudor used Rolex case / crown old older models but didn't know if they ever made dials with both names. Any help would be appreciated.

If you find both Rolex and Tudor on the dial then the dial has likely been refinished. This is a common repaint method but they did not come from Rolex that way.

Some, of course, are outright fakes..

IF they are real pieces with repainted dials, does this lower the value?

Thanks for the fast response!

As far as resale to a collector? Yes, refinished dials sell for significantly less than original dials, but to some it doesn't matter, being that this is a vintage forum I think most of us here prefer the unaltered version

. . .
Absolutely.. especially in the case of Rolex branded Tudors. There are plenty of good original Tudors out there and no need to ever get one that was never produced.

(let me qualify my earlier statement and mention that there were dual-named watches produced in the 1920's and 1930's, but these are not in the general mainstream when we talk about most Rolex Tudors you find on-line. The Tudor line was introduced in 1946 and most you see in the marketplace are post '46)

Totally agree. You won't run across these early watches and they aren't terribly valuable like the Holy Grail. Bad reprints are a dime a dozen and far more common
