Rolex forums, Sorry about being a show off and a jerk.

When I originally came to this forum I was researching a gift for my wife. I was already a watch collector, such as it is, but never owned a Rolex and was trying to figure out which one to get her.

Watches are wonderful pieces of engineering and if I could have been a watch maker I would have been just as happy as I was in my original career.

I enjoy coming here and reading about the Rolex watches. I also enjoy sharing my experences. I enjoy seeing some of the photos and think about how the person made the shots and how I might be able to recreate and do something different with images. I changed careers and am now a Photographer that is working toward improving my product photography skills. This website has some great images of these wonderous pieces of engineering.

Now on to what this post is about. I have posted in the threads showing my collection, my steering wheel and my Daytona. To be honest I look back at it and I am ashamed. I was taught to be gratful for everything I have and don't be a show off. I come from a meger life and was fortunate in life. I was sucked in to the entire show me what you have concept in some of these threads. I was trying to produce images but on the inside I wanted to show off too.

I'm guilty of being a show off here and I'm sorry about that.

I also owe you all an appology for being critical and rude to a few others about them doing similar. When I looked back at my self thats when I realized what I was doing. I shouldn't have acted this way and am feeling like a complete ass because of it.

I promise that any images I post in the future will be my attempts at being artistic.

No need to ask for forgiveness, Ken. You're still here whereas others are not. So what you may have said can't be all that bad. As for posting pics of what you have, that's all part of the game here.

Without pictures showing your watches in whatever setting that might be this place would be awful boring! Keep the pics coming and who cares what anyone thinks! Contrary to some of the posts I have read recently last time I checked this was a luxury forum. Post away and no need to apologize! Cheers,

I am having one of my underlings respond to this post as I am supervising the restoration and cleaning of my newest silver shadow from the comfort of my private jet parked safely on my newest purchase ... My very own aircraft carrier. Mind you I am tracking this project with my solid gold Daytona and solid gold first and only solid gold speedmaster. Once this project is completed I will toss both into the ocean to serve as a recovery goal for my next dive project that will be mounted from my new submarine.

I will also have more time to consider this post as I'm at a total loss for what you are talking about because we are in the process of hiring two more butlers who will organize and polish my collections and serve as models to display future purchases.

In any event I will direct my mind that has been fully trained to ignore self reflection and blame others to google - or have my staff google - this post in the attempt to Understand some meaning here.

In any event I'm off to the club to lunch with my betters lol I kill me. Just kidding. Anyway. Cheers.

Ps
Apology accepted. Even though I'm not sure why you feel the slightest bit bad.

Pps
Who do I complain to about getting some caviar on my president bracelet. .... Do I need a new one. Or is it now considered junk for the heap in the back of our summer mansion? Please advise. Thanks.

I understand the sentiment from the OP

You can be filthy rich or living below the poverty line, and still appreciate the finer things.

It is good that you are humble about what you have worked hard to obtain. But no reason to apologize. The bragging here is never "I have more than you do kind of bragging", its just more like "Dudes, look what I got!"

You are fine.

You take an admirable stance. Takes a good/strong person to admit fault, take responsibility and make amends (BTW, all three elements of a proper apology). Now lets move on a and chat up some timepieces. Glad you're still here, bro.

I remember my dad bought me a beautiful sports coat when I was 12. A friend of the family, who was also 12, came over to visit. He was from a very, very poor family. His name was Russel. I put the jacket on and pranced around the house, "Look at me, look at me!"... I found myself getting a sudden and major whooping from my father! It was a lesson learned. We all flaunt and it's human nature. I guess the moral of the story is how you do it, which makes all the difference.

While I can understand where you are coming from with this, I respectfully disagree. I feel like this forum is one of the only places I can "celebrate" my success and my fun toys with other like minded individuals without feeling like I'm showing off. I don't like to show off. As an example, I own a nice sports car, but I drive my wife crazy because I won't take it around certain people or settings for fear that I may be seen as a show off or worse make someone envious. Believe it or not, I bought that car because of it's performance and it's styling and I did it for me and me only. If nobody ever saw my Rolex or my car I could care less. But, here I am free to share with people who I think also appreciate these finer things that we have all worked so hard for.

Don't give yourself such a hard time. I would say that I think most of my fellow TRFers certainly don't see it as bragging, but more as celebrating! Now, let's see the Daytona!

People are proud of their luxury watches. This is one place we can share our watches with others who appreciate them as more than just "a waste of money."

This is a watch forum. You post pics of watches, if you can figure out the upload procedure, here. That and discussing watches is the only reason any of us are here. Not sure what you're apologizing for. Now go polish up that watch and steering wheel and have your servant snap a few pics to share with us please
