Try again. My watch.
Day-date. I am a part-time pro photographer and like to take pictures of .. my watch .. :-)
The original picture is much larger and sharper, but this board reduces it in size. Becasue it is called JPG< not JPEG. How dumb is that - with respect? If it takes me half day to get one quality picture or link uploaded on this board, I think perhaps I will go elsewhere. Peace, Michael |

Welcome to TRF!! Beautiful watch!!! That's a great photo, I like the bokeh and composition! Don't go elsewhere, we need your beautiful photos!
What you could do is upload your photos somewhere like photobucket, or flickr, or imageshack, and then post a link like I've done here: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=35445 http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...02082#poststop edit: you could link directly to the photo so that it actually shows in the post Share more photos of your watch please!

Nice watch. Many people have found an easier effective way to post pics. Luckily my digi cam is 3.2MP, so I haven't had to get past this hurdle yet.

trying for the same shot...
I tried with my Nikon D80, but the lens is no good for macro. I will resort to the Canon Sureshot of my DD. Just got it with black face and can;t get one focused shot of it except for when it is in my lightbox from a distance.
Good luck with it! |

Well, I teach photography as well, so if I can help let me knwo.
I have of course tried to just post a link, and a link with the fake html around it: I;ve done it all, but every time I insert any kind of link I am told that the message is being held for review... Cheers, Michael |

...and I would love to post the full-sized pic, so here's how I can bypass the 'held for review' thing:

..and you see now wy I wanted to post the link so you could see the original size: a resized picture really does not do this superb watch justice.

Nice pix but probably not worth getting annoyed about, IMO.
I can take a pix, resize it, transfer it and post it in about 90 seconds. The original pix size is 3.2meg reduced to about 290K. This pixel size is not great but the end result is acceptable. I only have a cheap point and shoot and don't teach photography. I would be happy to get some advice from you on lighting and depth of field settings etc. Welcome to the Forum.

Thanks, Eddie. Ask away if you need advice - not that you appear to need much.
Pic size is important. I make my pic to serve as screensavers or backgrounds on my various PCs and Macs. It takes me at least 90 seconds to start Photoshop and load the pic, let alone do the resizing and re-sharpening (always necessary after resizing) and uploading. You are quicker than me! |

That was a great photo of my grail watch. I hope to see more of your work on the forum. I have actually saved the watch to one of my folders, many thanks. Eddie As usual your photos are outstanding, I hope that when I come to post my photos that they turn out like yours!!

mwillems... posting an image without review just takes a little longer membership and post count. Check the FAQ's and help here on guidelines to that. As far as posting pics goes, I host all my own pics and just use the [img] tags to display them. Size restrictions do not apply to externally hosted material that way. Keep in mind, most people don't have 1900x1250 screen resolutions so keep the pixel count reasonable. I usually just go 800x600 and 100% crop when possible. Enjoy your time here and don't sweat the small stuff...

It depends on the light also. Soft light shows less dust. Harsh flash light is awful. Use a softbiox or shoot-through umbrella.
And you can also clean it up in Photoshop i you have any residual dust after that... Michael |

Yes, I too host all my own pictures. It is the link posting that was disallowd, that;s all - just like I cannot see attachments I believe, due to some forum restirction. Small stuff, rifht, though somewhat annoying.. life's too short etc...
Anyway on with my day. I am in Hong Kong at the airport about to fly back to Canada. In HOng Kong, more Rolexes per square km than in any other place in the world... |

Don't get it.
If you're a semipro you'd have probably noticed that resizing is the way to post your wonders on the web... Bokeh or not - what's the big issue here? Best Regards Another pro Sune Wendelboe www.globalphotographic.net |
