i purchased a white face SS daytona from my AD today, but im not sure if im going to keep it or not. just to be safe i left on all the tags.

should i keep it or flip it? and if i flip it, is the best way just to list it here?

This watch is the "dream watch" for many watch collector, and it's hard to get one. If I were you I would keep it.

If you really could use the money flip it, if not then keep it. If you keep all the tags on, know that your SS Daytona is practically currency, if in the future you need money then you can easily get it.

If you really like the watch then keep it! Although, the market for that watch right now is HOT!!!! If you've got your eyes on something else, this would be the perfect time to flip. But IMHO, I'd keep it!

Give it some time, you might find that you love the watch. If not, you can always sell a Daytona.

My questions is how did you get this if you didn't really want it? Many are on a waiting list for this and the ones that really want it would never flip, nor ask the TRF community if they should.

I have a feeling I already know why you purchased this watch. If you keep it, wear it in good health but I have a feeling it will be sold rather soon. Some sucker will pay $12k for it....not me.

It's a nice watch. If you don't need the money right away why not keep it. If you decide to wait, leave the tags on and watch it appreciate. Either way you can't go wrong.

Mark, how do you feel about the Daytona? Does it smile at you? Just curious.

Flipping and re-selling for a prorfit are two different things.

JJ flips his watches for another model (not to make money) when gets tired of them.

I think what you're really asking is if you should re-sell it for a profit.

Did you buy it because you like it or because it's hard to get?
If you like it keep it, if not sell it and put the money you made toward something you like.

Almost right there, my friend....except for my beloved BLUESY which was sold for cash only.....and you know why!!

well.. if you are not going to wear it, you should flip it.

i am interested in buying yours (since I've been looking to buy one for a long time to actually wear it).

You can PM me if you want to sell it for a little profit. I am a serious buyer but I can't afford to pay "too much".

If you need the cash, then flip it.

Personally I would hold onto it and wear it! It is such a beautiful watch, as like so many others have said, it is difficult to get one, so you should be happy

If you are asking the question it means that you want to flip it. Just list it on the sales forum and please move on. No one on this side can tell you what you like or dont. But keeping the tags and all on means only one thing.

So what's a "fair" market price for a Daytona?

Hi Mark
I have just replied to your other thread. I thought for a moment I was going mad, until I checked the times of the threads.
IMO if you are questioning your decision I think that you know the answer,go with your gut feeling.
However, if you don't need the cash, why not just give yourself a period of time to see if you change your mind.
You know that you will always be able to sell the watch very easily, I just wish that you where over here!!

##$##

I personally have no problem with someone speculating on the value of something, getting on a wait list, and then flipping it for a profit.

Heck you put up the $9K in the 1st place, so why not make the ($2-$3K) market adjustment :)?:)

I too want a SS Daytona....... BUT I keep waiting for the frenzy to die-off...... and it NEVER DIES OFFF!!!! ARGH!

Wonderful Marketing by the swiss boys. I guess.

If I were wanting to make $$ I'd strike now while the market is artificially high for these watches. It will eventually deflate back to it's retail price like more NEW things. IMHO.

The depreciation on this one if you wear is huge......... IMHO.

Now if you actually bought it because you want to wear it..... then enjoy.... and I'm very envious :)

I walked into my AD for something and he had a SS white dial Daytona just sitting there in the case.

I bought it, looked at if over the weekend and decided it wasn't for me. I could've returned it because my AD has a 30 day return policy. He left the parers open for me until I decided if I were going to keep it or not.

I sold it for a profit instead. Two things happened here;

1) Someone got a watch they really wanted

2) I made a few bucks. Not as much as what guys are getting now, but I didn't want to. I figured this way both parties were happy, and they were

Actually I was just discussing the alarming rate of phone calls that friends are getting from AD's about steel Daytonas.
At a recent watch show which I attend every two months usually some 50 steel Daytonas are on offer and most of them are finding new homes within one hour of trading.
This past show (2 weeks ago) the Chinese brotherhood towards the end of the show were selling at 10,500 dollars as there were not "takers" for the left overs and I am sure that few went back home with them.
It seems to me that money is getting tight even for desireable items like the steel Daytona.
