What did Ray Lewis do? (this is a test to see if you actually know anything about the case, or if you are just parroting what you read/heard/guessed)
Quote:
Let's follow that by agreeing that Roger Goodell is the biggest toolbox in any room he walks into. -that said- I'm trying to figure out what the NFL saw in the video that they didn't already know. Did they not think it was so bad? He knocked her unconscious and then dragged her out of an elevator. I'm also trying to figure out the punishment. First it was 2 games, then Goodell said a first offense is 6 games, and now that a video has come out showing what everyone knows happened, it's essentially a lifetime ban for his first offense. This is just too fishy. |

There are only a couple people who know exactly what happened that night (and two of them are dead) and the rest aren't talking...but Ray did destroy his clothes and paid somewhere around $2 million in a wrongful death suit. Did he personally murder two people? No one will ever know but none of his known actions of those of someone with nothing to hide. You have to be a pretty blind supporter of the Ravens to think he is a totally clean.

Ray Lewis was involved with the deaths of 2 human beings, and charged with obstructing justice.

Lewis was certainly there. His limo had the bullet hole from the drug dealer's crew to prove it. Everyone knows that the Atlanta DA saw stars and dollars when this case came up. |

The question I have is, why does everyone need to see him knock her out to know he knocked her out? She walked into the elevator and he drags her out like a sack of potatoes. How does this change what happened? Do people have that much blood lust? If two people walk into a room, 2 minutes later, one of them walks out and the other is dead, do I need to see the video of him being killed to know what happened? The NFL screwed this one up big time in what I believe is a pathetic cover up. I would like to see Goodell resign, but that won't happen. At least, Rice is gone. No team will have the balls to sign him for fear of unleashing a pr nightmare on themselves.

Wow. I didnt actually drop my mouth till her head slammed against the railing & he did NOTHING. No shock, not shaking her to see if she was alive, no concern that she was not moving, nothing. Dragged her like a sack of potatoes & had the security guys (they looked like security or at least paid to be there) deal with her. He just walked away. Idiot. These professional athletes make a fortune for what they do...he must wipe his a$$ with dollar bills. On top of that, he must be THAT arrogant. Anger management classes isn't going to get him out of this one or get him a new career. Perhaps in the past, people might have forgiven him, but too much s**t going on with NFL players to look the other way. Bad publicity is costly..bottom line. ;-)

When Roger Goodell saw the light and started handing out fines for various offenses, He determined a couple of years ago that the NFL should be a bit more let's say politically correct or set an example per-say for public relations anyway I guess he never imagined he would see something like this. At least it appears as this one caught him off guard. For most people in most jobs they never have to worry about something like this, we have the law who adjudicates these issues. We aren't paid to and we don't generally have the expertise to deal with some of these things. However since the NFL wants to be the end all be all 24X7 year round entertainment industry I guess their fans think they have the right to expect more from them. I guess if they want to keep and gain more fans then they may want to try and get more of these things right. I on the other hand expect to see them stumble and bumble more often. I don't tend to believe that they are the end all be all. Here's to expecting however we as a human race do better.

Ray Rice - Domestic Violence
Seems like a lot of people associate a pro athlete with an expectation of model behavior. I see no connection. I see physical abuse by an aggressive individual.
Poker players commit crimes. Actors and actresses commit crimes. Financial executives commit crimes. Politicians commit crimes. You get the trend here... None of these professions define behavior - our expectations are not met so some blame the career when it is the criminal who needs blame. Just my

She is the victim., and she may need help. There are a number of different possibilities, but she did not deserve this.

Most if not all have college educations and they also make pretty decent money so this would make sense. However do you have access to some comparative figures?

Domestic violence is not limited to any particular groups. Rich, poor, famous, average joe, it doesn't make a difference. Are there certain things that may make someone more likely to do it, definitely. The fact is that while he committed this vicious attack, thousands of people have been arrested since he was, for the exact same thing and they never made the news. A large number won't lose their jobs or livelihoods or be plastered across the news.
People in certain positions need to understand that the consequences they will face for doing certain things are greater than others. Hopefully, he has learned something from all this, in that it most likely will cost him the career he built and he will most likely be blacklisted from most positions as nobody wants to have the guy who knocked out his fiancé on staff.

This sort of behaviour is universal in the football world.
Never a month goes by here without a violent incident involving a 'football celebrity'. No comparison with any other sport. Almost always alcohol involved - that much is consistent with the community generally. Domestic Violence is a curse to Police departments everywhere.

Agree that regardless of how long Ray Rice is out of the league 'officially', his career is over. No team will ever want to be associated with him.
TMZ is reporting they are going to drop another big bombshell related to this incident sometime on the 9th, so looks like we'll get more info on what the NFL did and didn't know. |

And his initial ban was 2 games but Wes Welker got 4 for substance abuse? The severity doesn't meet the crime.

People don't care about what these animals do as long as they help their team win. The Ravens employed a murderer, and the Eagles employed a QB who bashed a dog's head against a tree because he wasn't a winner in the pit. These players are coddled since junior high when they begin to show promise on the field, and we wonder why they turn out like they do. We (society) are to blame for creating this mess. Oh, anybody remember OJ????
