Never inquired because I'm holding out for a ceramic SS. Never seen one in a case from NY to DC to FL either and I frequent ADs as a hobby lol I believe the whole hold em in the safe nonsense. If they really were rare, in the US, I wouldn't be able to get one from the trusted sellers so easily.

If you don't mind paying msrp, not hard to get a 116520 in utah, either black or white. The BLNR , SD 4000, and D- blue are more scarce and so you might wait awhile and always pay full price. TRF trusted sellers may be the answer for the Daytona and save a few bucks, plus no sales tax and even get your name on warrant card.

They are rare in and around DC. It took me few months and a lot of calls and visits to local AD's to get my hands on one.

Funny, because my AD has a BLNR & SD4000 in their display case now, but not a SS Daytona. I know my AD personally and so I believe her when she says that they have a waiting list that they call out to whenever they do get one in. They're a small family owned store, so they don't get that many 116520s a year and when they do, it never hits the display case because someone on the waiting list always buys it straight away.

I also travel to Houston frequently for work, and none of the ADs that I've visited there have ever had a 116520. Maybe they're keeping them in their safes and save for preferred customers, but I find it hard to believe that an AD would sit on any watch in their inventory rather than sell it. Instead of saving them for preferred customers you'd think that an AD would want to build a relationship with a new customer/client by providing them with the watch that they want to buy.

I saw four black dial and one white in Jakarta. I asked the salesman how come you are stocking up that many. He said when the Store chain manager come visit they will only display one and keep the rest in the safe. I dont know if this is true or a total BS.

I visited 2 ADs yesterday and both had the BLNR, SD4k and SDDS sitting on the case, another AD I visited on Friday had the BLNR and SD4k too. There doesn't seem to be a shortage of those in my area. One actually tried to do a sales pitch on me about the BLNR and how it is moving so fast at retail, I didn't bite and a month later that exact watch is still sitting in the case.

I know 3 ADs pretty well that I know for sure would have sold me one by now if they had the SS Daytona and I actually am on the list for about 3-4 other ADs for at least 3-4 months now. I also check in each AD at least once a month, more on the ADs I frequent.

I also just wanted to thank everyone, got plenty of info and help through PMs. I appreciate all the help and advice!

In big city ADs it seems very hard to get SS Daytonas- NYC, Chicago, London and LA is very hard in my experience, and particularly in Vegas. ADs in these cities say they have wait lists and they are snapped up as soon as they come in, always at msrp + ta. But once in a while I see them in smaller city ADs- never more than one. I got my white dial Daytona from a small town AD on a business trip, and even got a fair discount.

Very difficult to get here where I am. As well as from my AD friend on New Orleans. Availability of SS Daytonas honestly is ALL about location, and some particulars of the AD specifically. Don't think for one min that all or even MOST ADs have them... 'Just sitting in the back'...I have challenged friends when they tell me they can find them around here...if you find two I'll buy them both and give you one. To this day haven't had to. Lol

I have still never seen one on display in an AD, though they may have one in the back.
I don't ask as I'm not in the market for one.

Back in May I was at the Wynn and found it interesting that they had no SS Daytona or BLNR. But had all the other big guns, blue sub, plat Daytona, plat day dates, gold day dates, sky dwellers, etc. Never seen a SS Daytona on display here in metro Atlanta. Might be "in the back"

I received a call, on Saturday, from my AD, offering me a brand new stainless steel model with black dial. I agreed to go ahead and purchase it and I expect to collect it in the next few weeks.
